California-based GOP donors are refusing to put their names on Ron DeSantis’s “roundtable breakfast” fundraiser in the state, according to a report from the local, right-leaning California Globe.
The event – due to be held on Monday morning at Del Paso Country Club, Sacramento – has failed to gather more than one name as a sponsor of the event, with one source telling the Globe: “They asked everyone to put their name to this and no one would. Of all the local GOP fundraisers, all refused to put their name to it or host it at their homes.”
Instead, the event’s attendees – who must pay up to $3300 for a ticket – will only be met by Steve Eggert, founder of the real estate development company Anton DevCo and long-term GOP donor. Eggert’s largest contributions have been to Kevin McCarthy’s “Protect The House” PACs, as well as John McCain, Mitt Romney, and the Republican National Committee.
Typically, the Globe correctly explains, events like these have “host committees” of upwards of a dozen donors, and are held at private residences, not venues. The news follows a steady decline in support for the Governor of Florida, who hit a new low of just 14 percent support amongst Republican voters this week.

If the DuhSanctytes cannot buy a clue, from the above....they are probably beyond rehabilitating.
Now Jane, it isn’t Ron’s fault all those RINOs like him and his severe conservatism. /s
Isn’t he supposed to be governating Florida instead of running around in California?
“If the DuhSanctytes cannot buy a clue, from the above....they are probably beyond rehabilitating.”
It does look like he burned out. Started with flipping to join the Neocons regarding Ukraine, and then bashing Trump regarding his first indictment, and then the indictments themselves sealed it*, as even people not too hot on Trump don’t like the idea of the ruling party jailing their opposition.
*no fault of DeSantis as far as I know, but had DeSantis dropped out at that point (in protest, or at least claiming that reason), rather than look like he was trying to cash-in on it, he would likely have a political future beyond Florida.
DeSweatis has sold his soul to the company store. A career ending move.
Ron already hit the Reagan library.
That accounted for about every fat cat RINO in California.
He may be better at governing than politicking. He’s got all the timing of Steve Martin, when he was a poor Black child.
Is anyone else as shocked as I over how far and fast the value of DeSantis stock has tumbled?
Had he waited until ‘28 after supporting President Trump’s second term, he would have been golden.
Perhaps he’d have garnered more support....for at least being true to FL.
He’s even blown that, now.
DuhShamectus
LOL!
Or, Elaine, dancing.
About as painful to watch, for sure.
He needs to postphone or reschedule this event before sun up tomorrow. Why set yourself up for an event that would only highlight the tepid support for DeSantis at this time and in this state?
Reschedule it for middle of August.
By then, either the donor support will clearly be found or it will never be found.
Something big has happened in the last few weeks that has shifted Ron’s poll numbers. That something is probably former President Trump being indicted and making ‘intergalactic’ news. Once again, The Donald has a strong presence in every room where politics is being discussed.
It’s California, of course not. They could ruin your business, candalize, swat you. The skies the limit.
One main thing that bothered me with RDS is that he spat upon the person who helped him when he needed it. He joined the people who didn’t offer him a hand.
I don’t admire that at all. He is young and he should have stayed MAGA and he would be the heir of those voters after Trump. He showed poor decision making skills by doing that.
I imagine that frosts a lot of people. Also having the law changed to remain Governor was cheesy. Shows a lack of seriousness regarding a Prez campaign.
Who’s who’s list of CA RINOs.
Cheesy Spent Meatball.
Rob has no one to blame, but himself.
He’s FAIL from the get-go.
Re: “heir”?
Not likely - everyone, from President Trump on down needs to explain their positions and earn those votes.
Actually, the fact that Ron chose to run at all, even with loudly voiced objections from some in the Party, is one of the reasons I liked him. I liked the boldness and the decisiveness.
This is America, where no republican should have to place all their faith in the antiquated tradition of ‘waiting your turn’. That didn’t work out very well for Bob Dole, and with Dole, everyone in the party knew from the very beginning that his campaign wouldn’t be any more than a dud.
. Dud = A person or thing that is ineffectual or a failure.
. Dud = A missile that fails to explode after being fired.
In national politics, you need to stake your claim on the future of this country and describe your place in that future. No republican has to limit their ambition to proverbially shining Donald Trump’s shoes or polishing another one of his rings.
Those don’t sound like expectations of a merit based society to me.
If Ron does not secure the nomination this go round, so be it, but it is his right to try. He owes it to no one to conceal his ambition.
Unless you have TDS you can’t see that Desantis campaign is over...he just does not know it yet.
Chris Christie will start polling higher than him in New Hampshire soon...Desantis main support is the 35% of GOP that are having doubts about Trump the remaining 65% will vote for him when it is all said and done...to many candidates to share 35%...Trump will win easily.
