As a result of a Ukrainian missile attack, Russian Chief of Staff of the 35th Combined Arms Army, Major General Sergey Goryachev has died.

“Major General Sergey Goryachev has died.” (CoS of the 35th CAA)

In the Russian system, a Major General is a one star (2 is Lieutenant General, 3 is Colonel General, 4 is just General).

But it has been a while since Russian General Officers were being killed off or captured. An indication of the new phase of the war we are in.

Maybe some of the staff went with him in the strike.
