Following the rules is not “a legal trick” just as taking legitimate tax deductions are not “loopholes.”

I guess you wouldn’t want your attorney to use the rules to get you off, nor would you expect a prosecutor to cut corners to convict someone.

The term “justice” is bandied about a lot. My guess is that most of the people using that term think of justice as the outcome they want. In fact, it means the fair application of the rule of law.

Either we have rules or we don’t.
