I guess the answer would depend on if you believe that China really does want war with the US or not. Yes, they are building their military, but the US has also built bases all around them and is arming Taiwan. How much is to project an equally aggressive stance? Personally, I think RFKjr would be the Chinese first choice as he has a similar foreign policy outlook as to his uncle and father.
As far as Musk is concerned, he spoke a couple days ago about his recent trip there and how he felt he was able to get through to the Chinese leadership the dangers of not regulating A.I. If he was indeed successful in that regard, I think the world owes him a lot of gratitude.
