The short answer is: The SU-57 has external carriage because Russia has not figured out how to shoot missiles out of a weapons bay (internal carriage).

Shooting missiles out of a weapons bay, especially if the aircraft is supersonic, has aerodynamic and engineering challenges.

When a missile is in the weapons bay, its relative airspeed is zero. When it is dropped, it goes from zero airspeed to the aircraft airspeed instantly. Without perfect alignment, it will pitch up or pitch down and in most cases will impact the aircraft.

As I said earlier, external carriage means no stealth. SU-57 is typical russian junk.

And is largely still in the prototype stage from which it will never emerge, since there is no money, just like the ‘vaunted’ T-14 tank.
