Interesting. Police are optional. In an environment without police, I think one could expect an increase in self-protection, vigilante justice, and organized militias as a response to armed gangs. So I would say that de-funding the police should be a last resort. I don’t think we are there yet at all. I do not support de-funding the police. The FBI is another matter.

One can dream of an officer taking out his taser and approaching the 95 year old woman, and bystanders taking out their guns and saying “stop right there.”
