It is fun to think of Putin/Russia as a 98 lb. Joe Blow weakling. It appears Russia/Putin is incapable of learning new fighting skills or teaching them.

They do learn slowly: they are using drones a lot more and seem to be better at coordinating artillery and infantry, although they sometimes follow the Soviet habit of still shelling their own troops as they advance.
The main problem is the Soviet-style rigid command structure, which works when you have multiple waves of large numbers of troops and vehicles, which Putin doesn't have given the areas being fought over. If the Ukrainians break through with a large enough mobile force, they can't react fast enough. The other problem of course is massive corruption: much of Russia's military supplies exist only on paper.
