John Fredericks calls for a boycott of Ford over it's decision to stop putting AM radio in its new cars.
I boycott Ford for stopping “cars”.
I’m surprised radio in general hasn’t been dropped. Perhaps it hasn’t been since it’s so easy to just put in.
This is not a reason to boycott.
AM is used for emergencies and I often see government road signs telling me to tune into an AM station for weather emergency details.
I’m still boycotting GM over the Gov’t theft from the financial stakeholders, and gifting it to the UAW.
Removing AM but keeping FM seems pointless. It’s hardly a cost savings.
I gotta say it is more monopolistic capitalism at play. It costs virtually nothing to include AM signals in a radio. The decision to remove it was not about cost but something else. Even if most people don’t use it - they like the satellite and the streaming stuff these days - still, AM is reliable and good for emergency broadcasts. All this does is concentrate control of information into fewer hands.
Fredericks of Hollywood shouldn’t be in cars at all. It’s too much distraction.

Apparently Ford had already stopped including AM in their electric cars. Now they’ve decided to do it in all their cars.
Given all the things Conservatives should be boycotting, if we participate in all the boycotts eventually we would all be living in a cave somewhere hunting for food.
The conservative shows I listen/listened to had an FM counterpart. Rush Limbaugh was available on FM, and it was a simultaneous broadcast — not a repeat.
Yes, probably not much cost saving.
But maybe just no one demands it anymore.
No one has in ages EXCEPT to listen to conservative talk.
Perhaps they can move over to FM.

As somebody who has logged a lot of years in radio, I can tell you there are AM stations that are just turning off their transmitters because the electricity is so expensive. Not a growth industry.
I’m still never going to buy another POS Ford.
