I have no idea why JFK wouldn’t like the CIA, it was created during the Truman Presidency. Maybe the Bay of Pigs debacle played a roll and caused him to lose confidence.(They certainly lost confidence in him when no air support showed up during the invasion)
I don’t find this line of thinking very believable.
Kennedy escalated our presence in Vietnam by adding at least 16,000 more military advisors to the campaign.
I think because JFK was assassinated, revisionist types are “churching up” the real Kennedy.
One big issue the two factions of 1960’s Democrats the Johnson faction versus the Kennedy one.
Johnson ramped up Vietnam way beyond anything Kennedy did or imagined IMHO.
Johnson ramped up the welfare state beyond Kennedy’s vision.
Johnson was into war and the welfare state and he trashed the Kennedy’s every chance he got leaking the dirt to the media.
Good material the Republicans could pick up on but dirt just the same.
The Kennedy’s suspicious about JFK’s death from the get go and so we get all the discussion of a notion of conspiracy in the assassination.
Reasons why the CIA wanted JFK dead:
—JFK tried to stop James Jesus Angleton etal from giving nuclear secrets to the Israelis
—JFK fired Allen Dulles after the Bay of Pigs and threatened to break the CIA into a million pieces.
—JFK put in a new director of the CIA (John McCone) who was a JFK lackey and was hated by the “old guard”.
—JFK had an affair with the wife of a key CIA official (Cord Meyer, see below)
—JFK defunded the CIA’s support of Cuban rebels.
—JFK (well technically RFK) deported a Mafia ally of the CIA by kidnapping him and dumping him into the Guatemala jungle. The Mafia guy was New Orleans Mafia boss Carlos Marcello. Marcello returned to New Orleans and vowed revenge—caught on FBI wiretap tape telling colleagues “get that stone out of my shoe” referring to the Kennedys.
E. Howard Hunt had a deathbed confession where he indicated he ran logistics for the assassination:

Hunt named CIA names—David Atlee Phillips, Cord Meyer Jr., William Harvey, Frank Sturgis.
