Star Collingwood forward Brody Mihocek yesterday kicked one of the most amazing goals in the history of the game of Australian Rules football. But a commentator who used to play for Collingwood, but has recently been on the wrong end of a social media pile-on for alleged pro-Collingwood bias, now seems negligent in not focussing on how good the goal was.

A goal is achieved in Australian Rules Football if the ball passes between the two tallest goalposts and the last part of any players body to touch the ball is the foot of a player from the attacking team.

In this goal, a Sydney player's hand touches the ball kicked by Collingwood player Jordan DeGoey. That stops DeGoeys kick being a goal.

But a microsecond after the ball was touched and a microsecond before it would have crossed the goal line, Brody Mihocek kicks the ball to score a goal which secured victory for Collingwood.

A side note: the commentator, Brian Taylor, a champion Collingwood goal kicker from the 1980's, is very critical of the umpires for calling for a video review. Taylor has recently been criticised for biased praise of Collingwood in his commentary. Here he appears to fail to acknowledge great Collingwood play.

Two minutes later that a female commentator shows very intelligent insight into just how good Mihocek's decision making was.

I don't really understand Australian Rules Football, but there always seems to be a lot more action on the field than regular rugby (bunch of guys hugging).
