The current fiscal "crisis" is nothing new; in history, the story has played out many times, in many ways. It's like the old saw, "There are only 17 basic story/play plots." So the remedies are also well-known. Enough physical possession of value to carry you through the cracks that will form. After quite a bit of research, this is what I found for me:

First, understand your core spending rate. I identified how much I spend each month on food, shelter, utilities, and energy.

Next, one needs to have value in one's hand to bridge the cracks that will form. My personal target is three months worth of folding money, and six months worth of silver and gold in equal value, stored where no government edict can block me from accessing it. (Remember the COVID quarantine?) The rest of my money is in other asset classes, to my taste.

Finally, recognize the truth of our current situation. The USA is headed into another recession; given the government debt load, it could well dip into another Depression.

Our "experts" seem to be wearing rose-colored glasses, partly because they want to stop-punch panic, partly because they are unwilling to face truth. At this point, take anything the Fed and FDIC says as propaganda.
