Carroll’s sketchy recollection of the incident is why they have statute of limitations. I don’t even think she reported her “rape” to the police. The rape was said to occur in 1996, 27 years ago. Statute of limitations at the most are 20 years.

Apparently, not in this case, in NY. According to an article posted about this earlier, there is no Statute Of Limitations on rape if the memory suddenly comes to you. (Paraphrasing.)
Which is very convenient if you’re trying to set up somebody.
