As expected, the Florida Senate has passed the Ron DeSantis is a liar law, permitting the Florida Governor to run without resigning, by a vote of 28-12.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – The Florida Senate approved an election overhaul bill Wednesday 28-12, which included a clarification to the “resign-to-run” law. The change would exempt officeholders seeking the position of U.S. president or vice president from the state’s “resign-to-run” law. (read more)

Meanwhile, NBC is breaking exclusive news the Ron DeSantis team plan to launch the official announcement mid-May. Several weeks ago, after one of the official campaign contractors was hired, CTH shared what NBC is now confirming.

desantis wanted to have his cake, and eat it too...

desantis lied about wanting to be re-elected to governor of florida, and is using it as a stepping stone to run for president.....

As most people realized, despite the denial by many desantis supporters.

Can anyone trust what he says, when he's still not telling the truth about campaigning to be president?

Oh, can it! DeSantis is excellent presidential material, and if he got the Republican nomination, I would enthusiastically vote for him. He has as much, if not more, steel in his spine against the left as Trump has, and has proved it in the way he has improved conservatism in FL by pushing state politics sharply to the right. I would hope and pray the same thing nationwide.

Countless politicians have run for another elective office while serving in elective office.

If he’s the nominee, I suspect very few voters are going to vote for Biden instead, because of what was allegedly implied about him serving the full 4 year term as governor. I seriously doubt any Republican or conservative will vote for Biden instead to punish DeSantis over this particular issue.

He never lied. A whole bunch of other people put words into his mouth that he never said.

He should veto it and let the Senate override. Then it won’t be his fault that they changed the law to benefit him.

I voted for DeSantis for governor. If he runs for POTUS, I will not vote for him ever again no matter what he runs for.

Just for the sake of clarity Charlie Crist did the same thing when he was democrat governor of Fla. so it’s not exactly like it’s unprecedented.

The Trump sycophants are I’m sure having a collective hissy fit however.

I’d prefer DJT, but considering the alternative (a Prog) I’m more than willing to offset your vote if DeSantis is the candidate.

Please explain why you would not vote for DeSantis.

I don’t care about that...

I care more about the BS legislature... yea we are going to pass this law, and then just pass an exemption to it when we feel its needs to be.

They just put this law BACK into effect in 2018...

After getting rid of it in 2008 for Christ when it looked like he might be a VP candidate.

This law is meaningless, and shows exactly what is wrong with the system. IF you aren’t going to enforce it, why have it or than for political grandstanding?

Don’t know about “collective hissy fits” but your argument is a democrat did it..so that makes it okay?

I’m not sure Florida law, and federal court rulings, require a state official to resign to run for federal office.

My info says the opposite. I have no idea why the Florida Legislature is doing this. Hope someone can explain.

I’m not arguing at all.

Like I said, it’s not an unprecedented move regardless of political party.....but that won’t keep some from attacking.

I’m down in Florida..haven’t heard anything that strong.
But people are not exactly excited about the idea of their Governor running for President.
I sense more to do with they don’t want to lose him than anything?

I agree. The Republican path to victory in the 2024 Presidential election is for the pro-Trump crowd to bash DeSantis and the pro-DeSantis crowd to bash Trump.

That'll teach senile Sleepy Joe, right? Hey Sleepy Joe, if you don't know how to respond, I'll draw up a note card for you and you can read your response off it (although even that typically goes bad for you).
