Because Russia is a very bad actor. It is an aggressive country and it is better to let Ukraine fight and hopefully win instead of us having to fight them. They are still a dangerous country and a threat to all of us. We are a part of this world and the world needs to be made safe. Does that not answer how we have a national interest.

Look Ivan if you are against hot wars then tell Putin not to start them. Apparently you are just against other people defending their homes, freedom and way of life against aggressive dictatorship like the ones that run your country.
