‘promises to pardon “defendants of politicized prosecutions.”’

If they are not convicted in federal court, then the President can’t pardon them. I’m not sure how he can be described as “brilliant” if he gets something as simple as that wrong.

If they are indicted in Federal Court, Presidents can pardon them.

For pardoned Nixon, who was convicted of nothing anywhere.
