On a slightly skewed topic, Friday my cell phone, which was five years old, that’s a hundred in cell phone years, started smoking while charging. I ran it outside and bought a new one. Imagine what an elderly car battery would do in your garage.

BEVs won’t have the long shelf life of ICE vehicles. Electronics fail where mechanical parts wear out. Electronics will be difficult to source and replace. Electronics are notoriously more difficult to diagnose than mechanical issues.

They also cost more. Range is still common issue except in the luxury space. My ICE vehicle can easily make it. And forget about towing if that’s your need.

BEV are best for daily driver commuting rather than long trips. I am more interested in hybrids but hybrids are more complex and just as expensive. BEV is nonsensical for long haul trucking compared to diesel. It’s science.
