A look at some core facts and truth regarding the nation’s most popular rifle.
The AR-15 is the most popular rifle in America today. Estimates put the total of privately owned modern sporting rifles upwards of 20 million, which would clearly meet the “common use” standard the Supreme Court says qualifies weapons for protection under the Second Amendment. Yet because mass murderers like the “transgender” biological woman in Nashville sometimes choose this weapon for the commission of heinous evil, leftists relish in attributing that evil to the tool rather than the perpetrator.
So let’s focus for just a moment on the facts and the truth about the AR-15.
It is a relatively small-caliber but high-velocity semiautomatic rifle, which means it fires only one round for every trigger pull. It was developed in the late 1950s by Armalite, hence the AR designation, which does not stand for “assault rifle.”
A true assault rifle is something like the M4A1 carbine, which is a military service rifle with select-fire — i.e., fully automatic — capability. While the AR-15 and the M4 look similar, the function is different.
Fully automatic machine guns have been effectively banned since 1986, so, despite their prevalence in Hollywood’s violence-glorifying entertainment, few are actually “on the streets,” and virtually none are used in the commission of crimes.

I live in Oregon where they passed some insane requirements for purchase which was upended by the courts, I am thinking the feds are helping with these delays. I have several weapons and have a concealed carry permit which should suffice but it doesn't. No one believed Oregon could ever vote to negate the 2nd but did and they won the issue or at least the count.

A short-barreled rifle is a firearm with a rifled barrel less than 16 “ and an overall length less than 26”. The main component that differentiates an SBR from a braced pistol is a buttstock. Without a stock, it’s not an SBR, it’s a pistol. A buttstock or, simply stock, is a device that is also attached at the end of the firearm to shoulder the weapon for stability and control. The stock can be fixed, folding, or telescoping. It can also be detached from the firearm. The stock is made with either wood, metal, or polymer.

My beef is not with you. I sent you a definition of the difference between a SBR and a pistol. If this is what “they” are selling as a “brace” then the ATF has a point. Not only a point but a reason to ban them.
Heck. I think that U.S. citizens should still have the right to own machine guns. But the law is the law (like it or not) and just because a manufacturer calls it a brace doesn’t mean it is one.

Clearly, you didn’t know why an arm brace is used, and what a stock is.
These arm braces are not on an AR-15 RIFLE, they’re on an AR-15 PISTOL. The barrel for a rifle is 16 inches or longer, and most of the AR-15 pistols have barrels less than 10 inches.
Pistols are harder to shoot accurately, being a one-handed and non-shouldered weapon with a much shorter sight radius, but using a brace, even a short one, lets the gun gain much stability in aiming, and thus in accuracy, whether the brace is just securing the pistol to the shooter’s forearm (the end of the brace splits into two pieces to go around the forearm, and the strap is secured around the pieces and the forearm, basically to soft-weld the gun into the forearm), or whether the end of the bound-up (unopened) brace is held against the shoulder, similar to a real stock butt.
Originally, the braces were for Veterans and others without the full use of both arms to aid their firing of a pistol—they couldn’t hold up a full length weapon (rifle with stock) and couldn’t use the non-firing hand to help hold up a pistol accurately.
But with the terrific buffering power of an AR-15, making the gun have so little recoil while still delivering a very flat-shooting effective weapon at 50 yards or less, the AR-15 pistols could be easily used with an arm brace with only one functioning upper limb. And when the BTFAE said the arm braces did NOT turn the pistols into short-barreled rifles (SBR’s—look it up), then even those with two good upper extremities wanted in on the wholesome goodness of these fun little pistols.
And no, most AR-15 rifles are NOT with adjustable stocks. Many are, especially those used in close quarters combat, but the original Colt AR-15 and many other use a full fixed stock. A real stock, by the way, has a much taller and wider surface area where the stock rests against the shoulder, compared to the arm braces, and are much longer than the “adjustable” arm braces even at adjusted full extent, and so the arm braces when shouldered help with accuracy but are very uncomfortable to use for an extended shooting session.
Next time, leave the oh-so-wise-sounding gun pronouncements to those who actually own, understand, and use such weapons.
