How does one prove they are not “tied to the Bushes” as you say? Does he have to come out and say that he denounces the Bushes? Does he have to have Jeb jailed? Or does the fact that Jeb (a two-term, popular Republican governor prior to the 2016 campaign) went to DeSantis’s inauguration forever “tie him to the Bushes?”
This is the idiocy on full display in Trump World. Ron DeSantis was a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus. He supported Donald Trump when many “establishment” Republicans wouldn’t. He has governed here in Florida in a much more proudly conservative way than any governor in my lifetime. But because he didn’t bend the knee to Trump and vow not to get in Trump’s way for the nomination, he has stupid nicknames thrown at him daily and is accused of all kinds of things that he hasn’t done. If we have a very, very popular very, very conservative Republican governor who governs on extremly conservative principles and moderates still like him, what is the problem? Isn’t that what we should want, so that we potentially win the presidency with huge coattails that bring lots of Republicans along with it to create a legislative majority? Because Trump has never had coattails, at least nothing since 2016. He’s toxic to independent voters.
I hear you. I just don’t want RD to end up being another Bush. He’s a great Governor and I think he will make a great President.
BTW, I did NOT say RD was “tied to the Bushes”
