Be careful not to port that GV number to ooma or any other competitor. It will cost you money to get your original GV number back with GV should it not work out for you. I tried Ooma and it was terrible. We use our GV number as a biz number.
I lost SMS capability with Ooma as well as a number of features. which they wanted extra for. I now have to subscribe to the dreaded Google workspace/office which I don’t use any of the features except for the voice phone number.
I also lost my ability to ring my “deskphone” for incoming calls using an obihai box. I can still make outbound calls on the POTS phone with the connected GV number, though.
