Gaetz is an ideologue idiot. Dept. of Ed is not going away, that is only a cheap excuse and ignores what the legislation is attempting to address.

Matt Gaetz is a phony: it's not about a feud with Kevin McCarthy, it's not about "not having everything we want" - it's about returning the voice of parents to the raising and education of their own children.

I watched his histrionic grilling of Gen. Mike Langley earlier today and he was - as always, a pompous. posturing windbag.

I read the article and followed the links and I can’t find the names of the other 4 Republicans that voted against the bill. Can someone tell me who they are?

FedGov has no role in education.
Period.

Is it one or the other? Does he have to let the Leftists RUN FREE on our kids until (and unless) he’s able to kill the Dept. of ‘Education’?

Good post!

Generally I am on Matt Gaetz side on the issue, however, this comes across as moral posturing for an audience.

If it takes an act of Congress to establish and protect marriage, life, and family, then the battle is already lost, the object yielded. It is like trying to establish and protect the rising sun. It is stupidity taking on the appearance of moral superiority. It is probably why someone once coined the phrase, “you cannot legislate morality,” which is another way of saying laws will not change an evil heart.

True - but I responded to his tweet with:

“In a way, I can see your point - but, until that happens, what’s wrong with injecting some forced openness? In fact, that forced openness might speed up your goal.
If every dem voted against it - well, there’s your sign that maybe you should be for it.”

Gaetz is correct. The Dept of Education needs to go. States need to handle their own schools.
