The occupying authorities in Dzhankoi, in the north of Russian-annexed Crimea, have announced that they have imposed a municipal emergency in the city after a nighttime attack by “Ukrainian drones”.

Source: Kremlin-aligned news outlets RIA Novosti and RT; local Russian media Telegram channels

Details: The occupiers also claim that all the drones over Dzhankoi were allegedly shot down and that they were “aimed at civilian targets and were filled with shrapnel and explosives”.

As Oleg Kryuchkov, an adviser to the Russian proxy ‘head of Crimea’, said, one drone was allegedly shot down over a Dzhankoi college, while others were destroyed over residential areas.

The invaders also report that several facilities in Dzhankoi have been damaged, there is damage to the power grid, and a man has been injured.

At the same time, Kryuchkov reports that the railway and infrastructure facilities are allegedly not damaged, and trains are running on schedule.

At the same time, a Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reported that a drone attack on the evening of 20 March had damaged the locomotive depot, the station security building, and freight and fuel storage points at the railway station in Dzhankoi.

The channel also writes that the attack on the station caused interruptions to the locomotive depot’s power supply.

Background: Explosions occurred in Dzhankoi on the evening of 20 March, with the Russian invaders possibly shooting down a drone.

Later, Ukrainian Defence Intelligence reported that an explosion in the city of Dzhankoi had destroyed Russian surface-to-surface Kalibr cruise missiles while they were being transported by rail.

Wagner Chief Prigozhin Calls for Kremlin Support Amid Soldier Exodus
By Brendan Cole
On 3/21/23 at 6:20 AM EDT

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the financier of the Wagner Group of mercenaries fighting in Ukraine, has appealed to Moscow for help ahead of an expected Ukrainian counteroffensive and as a British assessment says he faces an impending exodus of troops.

A letter published on Prigozhin’s Telegram channel outlines Prigozhin’s concerns to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about what might happen in the coming weeks in the battle for Bakhmut.

In the missive dated March 20, Prigozhin claimed that his units controlled 70 percent of the Donetsk town and were continuing their offensive “for its complete liberation.”

But he said that information points to a move “in late March, early April,” by Ukrainian forces which will try to deliver strikes “to cut off Wagner units from the main forces of the Russian armed forces.”

“I ask you to take all necessary measures to prevent the cutting off of the Wagner troops from the main forces of Russia’s army, which will lead to negative consequences for the special military operation,” he wrote, using Moscow’s term for its full-scale invasion.

In sharing the letter, news aggregator NOEL tweeted that Prigozhin seemed to be “calling desperately for help, even leaking his own letter to Shoigu to the public in the hope of speeding up the process.”

It comes as British defense officials said convicts Wagner recruited, with the promise that their jail sentences would be expunged, will be pardoned and released in the coming weeks.

Wagner prisoner recruitment peaked last fall after inmates had been offered commutation of their sentences after six months of service. Prigozhin has said that Wagner is no longer taking recruits from Russian prisons.

“Although approximately half of the prisoners recruited have likely been killed or wounded, evidence from Russia suggests the group is following through on its promise to free survivors,” the British Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has endorsed the issuance of certificates to freed Wagner veterans, the update added. Newsweek has emailed the Russian Defense Ministry for comment.

Ex-Wagner Prisoner Troop Reveals Lies Fed to Him About Putin’s Invasion
By Nick Mordowanec
On 3/20/23 at 5:18 PM EDT

Many—but not all—Russian soldiers believe in the so-called special military operation, according to prisoner interviews conducted by the Kyiv Post.

Seven captured Russian fighters who were part of the paramilitary Wagner Group were recently interviewed by reporters in a detention facility located in the eastern city of Dnipro. All but one fighter interviewed expressed justification for their participation, denied war crimes, and confirmed the high number of casualties reported in the city of Bakhmut.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday was issued an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes related to the alleged unlawful deportation of Ukrainian children. Putin and Wagner Group founder Prigozhin, known by the moniker “Putin’s chef,” have experienced an increasingly strained relationship due to the mix of soldiers and fighting styles on the battlefield.

Each of the detained mercenaries, as they are called, is part of the private military company headed by the oligarch Prigozhin. They told the publication that they were promised a “return to civilian society with a clean slate after serving.”

Last September, Prigozhin said in a leaked video that Russian prisoners were being recruited from state penitentiary systems. Offers included commuted sentences for male prisoners, in addition to cash incentives in exchange for six months of service in Ukraine. The Kremlin said Putin had pardoned recruited convicts.

A payment of about $1,300 per month (USD) was reportedly offered. Prigozhin now says prisoners are no longer being recruited.

All interviewed prisoners reportedly identified themselves and spoke on camera without guards present. One of the seven declined to speak in full detail.

They were all captured in and around Bakhmut—a city full of Wagner fighters for months—in January. All but one of the interviewees told the Kyiv Post that their justification for partaking in the military operation was to liberate Ukraine from “fascist rule” and “genocidal anti-Russian policies.”

A 27-year-old resident of Irkutsk, reportedly serving 18 months of a four-year narcotic sentence, instead stated that he was “misled” by Russian media for making him believe that Russian speakers were being targeted and killed by the Ukrainian government.

He “asked Ukraine’s women’s forgiveness” for coming to their country “to kill their husbands and sons,” adding that he witnessed one Wagner fighter get executed in front of others due to drunkenness.

Others interviewed said they had not witnessed that scene, adding that they were initially warned of offenses including looting, abusing civilians, intoxication, and disobeying orders that were punishable by death.

Mikhail Troitskiy, professor of practice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, told Newsweek that the arrest warrants for Putin and Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights for the Russian Federation, may be just the beginning of the ICC’s efforts.

Lvova-Belova, for example, is a mid-level government official not under European Union or U.S. sanctions and could theoretically travel anywhere at the war’s conclusion.

“Such an approach could make a very broad circle of officials worry about their prospects of becoming wanted by the ICC and therefore severely constrained in their travel options,” Troitskiy said. “Those officials may also be turned over to the Hague tribunal by some future Russian government that could abrogate or change the constitution, providing for an exemption for the Russian citizens indicted by major international tribunals.”

The Wagner interviewees’ ages ranged between early 20s and late 40s, with most either not graduating high school or coming from broken homes that led to multiple run-ins with the law. Their imprisonment was correlated with alcohol or narcotics abuse.

Baron Prigozhin is reluctant to realize his usefulness is approaching its end. When the battle of Bakhmuit ends he better sleep on the ground floor. When he sleep walks out a window it will hurt less.

“Baron Prigozhin is reluctant to realize his usefulness is approaching its end.”

I agree.

I think he thought he could increase his reputation & be assumed as a shoe in for Putin. He isn’t a stupid man. But, politically I think he miscalculated.

As man dad would have said, “If you you could buy him for what he’s worth and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth, You would be a multi-billionaire!

So you "respect" the freedom of speech.
Not the freedom of informed discussion when it disagrees with you.

There is more to outside our borders than only opposing George Soros.

Donald Trump and all the potential 2024 GOP candidates oppose Russia's invasion.

Are they all Soros/NOW/FJB/WEF/etc fans now?
