Trump is the sole participant in this Demolition Derby.
The “Prize”?
Increased scorn, confusion and exasperation by former (very enthusiastic) supporters.

I’ve been saying, it looks like Trump is trying to disqualify himself from consideration for the nomination. People don’t normally keep swinging rhetorical wrecking balls into their own established legacy if they want to be elected in the near future.
Why he would choose this round about manner instead of just retiring, I could not tell you.

Even if DeSantis were to win the nomination, he cannot win the general election without Donald Trump’s hardcore supporters. What DeSantis could have done months ago is endorse Trump enthusiastically and support his candidacy vigorously. Then, if Trump were to blow up and withdraw for one reason or another, DeSantis could have been perfectly positioned to jump into the race with full MAGA support. Instead, DeSantis has remained mostly silent as to all issues centered on Trump, such as the 2020 stolen election, and cozied up to the Bush Crime Family and Karl Rove wing of the Republican party. As a result, even if DeSantis were to win the nomination, enough Trump supporters would refuse to vote for him in the general election that it would ensure a Democrat victory. And it was all so unnecessary, because DeSantis could have positioned himself perfectly as a replacement nominee in 2024 or as the overwhelming party favorite in 2028. That’s how I see it.

Haha, all the sanctimonious supporters of DeSantis “rip” Trump for “riping” DedeSantis. He begged, yes begged for Trump’s endorsement and 4 years later he’s working with Paul Ryan, Karl Rove and Romney to take Trump down and you all expect Trump to say nothing?

Although to be increasingly expected, this not good if accurate. Trump’s antics and actions can lead to fracturing the conservative electorate which is the last thing American needs in 2024. Does he really care about the country or just himself?

Rush used to say that no one can break the bond that Trump has with his supporters except . . . Trump himself.

President Trump, you are knocking on that door right now.

The GOP has brought our country to its knees. Now they’re sabotaging their own party by proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare; grabbing that third rail with gusto. Their self-sabotage doesn’t stop there. They are purposely dividing the party by fielding a candidate to oppose Trump. This is suicide for the party.

Trump should seriously consider running third party. I hope that he does. It would represent an incredible opportunity for our country and allow him to craft his own political agenda tailored to attract the red-pilled from both sides of the political divide.

He could pick a VP that is democrat friendly. The number one issue would be ending the war in Ukraine and of course leaving Social Security and Medicare untouched. He’d be free to pick and choose issues that will trip up both uniparty candidates.

My guess is that Trump does this to make the super rich GOP donors think twice about giving money to DeSantis.

Seriosly though, if Trump stays on this he’ll turn offf a lot of Florida voters.

I’m pulling for Trump, but this is geting old.

If Trump continued doing things like going to the derailment in Ohio and overshadowing the current President who could not be bothered to go, pointing out how things have deteriorated since Biden took office and comparing / contrasting how things were during his own administration, etc. then all other potential rivals in the primary would be completely overshadowed and no one would even be paying attention to the fact a primary technically has to take place. He’s going to be the dominant candidate being the most recent incumbent President anyway - he’s only putting chinks in his own armor getting into petty bickering like this, promoting old DNC “Mediscare” talking points, etc.

DeSantis is not disloyal - Trump is not the incumbent. If DeSantis challenged him in the 2020 primary - that would have indeed been disloyalty. The only reason DeSantis has an opening is because of this behavior. Trump is a fighter - fighting for and about the right things would be far more effective use of his time instead of looking like he has a very thin skin.

DeSantis is a very good governor. So Trump is saying he regrets endorsing the guy who turned out to be the best governor in the country?

He should regret his endorsement.

If he’d endorsed Putnam, he wouldn’t have a major obstacle to the 2024 nomination.

Trump, would you just shut the hell up! DeSantis is doing a great job in FL, and have done so without your endorsement.
