Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“Mass Backstabbing Spree Over Putin’s War Sweeps Russia”

“ Russian citizens are ratting each other out to authorities in droves for anti-war comments made in bars, beauty salons, and grocery stores in roughly a dozen cities across the country, according to a new report from the independent Russian news outlet Vrestka.

Legal filings obtained by the outlet from Moscow, Bryansk, Novosibirsk, and other cities indicate that citizens have been turned in for “violations” as minor as cracking a joke about the war, listening to Ukrainian music, or even just talking about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion in a public space.

Many of those jailed after being reported by other citizens were charged under Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, a new law signed by Putin last year criminalizing “public actions aimed at discrediting”Russian Armed Forces.”

-—> Ukraine Situation Report: Wagner Group May Take ‘Tactical Pause’ In Bakhmut Offensive <——
Russia’s controversial Wagner Group could take on a reduced role in the next phase of fighting for the city of Bakhmut, it’s been claimed.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-wagner-group-may-take-tactical-pause-in-bakhmut-offensive

Excerpts:
ISW contends that Wagner forces will likely from now on take on a reduced role in the Bakhmut offensive, with Russia instead making more use of its regular soldiers, rather than the group’s mercenaries and controversial soldier conscripts.

“In spite of the colossal resistance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, we will go forward,” Prigozhin added today. “Despite the sticks in the wheels that are thrown at us at every step, we will overcome this together,” he said.

At the same time, Wagner is continuing efforts to expand its own ranks, including the recent opening of recruitment centers in 42 Russian cities, according to Prigozhin.

It seems that the Kremlin has also stepped up the supply of ammunition to the Bakhmut front, after Prigozhin today thanked the government for a “heroic” increase in the production of ammunition.

According to Reuters, the Wagner Group is now receiving ammunition produced this year, while Prigozhin spoke of ammunition now being produced “in huge quantities, which cover all the necessary needs.”

Prigozhin did, however, continue to warn that wider shortages of ammunition could still have an effect on the Wagner Group and regular forces alike. “I am worried about ammunition and shell shortages not only for the Wagner private military company but for all units of the Russian Army,” he said.

Kyiv today witnessed the funeral of a prominent military commander, Dmytro Kotsiubailo, who was known by the callsign “Da Vinci.” Thousands gathered to pay their respects to Kotsiubailo, who was killed near Bakhmut on Tuesday at the age of 27.

During the fighting against pro-Russian forces in the east of the country in 2014, Kotsiubailo had been seriously wounded by a tank shell. He returned to action and in 2016 became the youngest commander in the history of the Ukrainian Army. In 2021 he became one of the youngest recipients of the Hero of Ukraine award, presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Interview with a Luhansk separatist Lviv.Media Mar 9, 2023 12:15 p.m. EST
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVQLI05JNtA

Oleksandr Taranenko, from the town of Rovenky in Luhansk Oblast, was in prison, served in the separatist army and worked at an illegal mine. Last March, he was taken to war right off the street when he went to the store. He spent almost 9 months in the war against Ukraine until he was captured. In an interview with Liubomyr Ferens, Oleksandr tries to answer difficult questions: where is the border of separatism, who is to blame for the war, and what to do if he is sent back to war.

Summary:
So as it turns out the guy being interviewed was not paying attention to what was going on around him. He was trained as a carpenter and worked in an illegal coal mine for a while, but things changed, and he ended up stealing and going to prison for 5 years.

When he got out he was rounded up by people and taken to the military where he enlisted because it was a job. By that time, he could not get a job anywhere since he had no legal documents.

Long story short - he fought to protect his family in Donbas, but by that time, there were only a few civilians killed, and that was less than the year before. He did not know that. In two years or less, the Ukraine-Donbas conflict would have ended. But he was willing to keep attacking Ukraine to defend his family and Donbas until he was ordered to stop, even if that were at the Polish/Hungarian borders.

He was asked if there were many people like himself - to which he replied, “Yes”. He admitted that people like him were the ones who screwed it up. And sided with the Russians against Ukraine, even though he had only the most rudimentary idea of the actual situation.

Just goes to shows that Democrat voters are everywhere.

Reporting from Ukraine:
https://www.youtube.com/@RFU
••Day 380.

Today the biggest news is coming from the east. Here, in preparation for the imminent Ukrainian counteroffensive, Wagner forces started reinforcing

their flanks and trying to expand the buffer zone between Ukrainians and their critical supply lines.

They have concentrated almost a third of their forces in the northern flank and conducted more than 30 assaults per day, but Ukrainian forces hit them from the opposite end and started clearing the ground with their newly arrived JDAM bombs.

Last time I told you that Russian forces increased the fire control over the retreat routes from Bakhmut, which caused a spike in Ukrainian losses of cars and armored vehicles.

I also told you that there were strong indicators that Ukrainians started to take measures to widen the corridor. The freshest reports suggest that Ukrainians managed to not only start taking measures but also achieved noticeable results.

One of the most important events that happened here is that Ukrainians established a pontoon bridge in Khromove.

As you remember, when Russians were rapidly advancing in this area, Ukrainians blew up the bridge to complicate the situation for Russians in case Ukrainians would have been pushed away.

The restoration of this bridge means that Ukrainians pushed Russians far enough from Khromove to start using the main highway that connects Bakhmut with the mainland. With more roads available to them, cutting supplies becomes exponentially more difficult.

The first reason why Ukrainians managed to push Russians away is that Ukrainians have successfully entangled Russians in urban fighting.

Today a lot of sources confirmed that Russians started storming the AZOM industrial area.

This is the most fortified part of the town, comparable to the industrial area in Mariupol.

It has a lot of workshops and tens of floors underground, which require significant resources to control and assault.

Given that Russians are not planning to force the river in the middle of the city, AZOM is the most favorable place for the Ukrainians to give the next fight.

The second reason why Ukrainians managed to push Russians from Khromove is that Russians temporarily shifted their focus to Dubovo-Vasylivka.

For many days they had been trying to establish full control over this small village but were unable to assume permanent presence because Ukrainians controlled too many checkpoints around the settlement and were constantly firing at them.

That is why over the last 2 days, Wagner forces have been conducting more than 30 assaults per day only in this small area.

It means that more than 35% of all fights around Bakhmut were taking place here, so it is not surprising that their success here came at a cost to their operation somewhere else.

At first glance, it seems surprising that Wagner forces decided to sacrifice their progress around Khromove, where they deployed their most elite formations in an attempt to encircle Bakhmut.

However, as you remember, Ukrainians have reportedly started preparing for a counteroffensive operation in this region, and one of the focal points of their plan is precisely the area around the Sloviansk highway.

A lot of Russian sources reported that one of the main axes of Ukrainian advance would go along this highway, and there are a lot of indicators that Ukrainians have gathered a noticeable amount of force near Minkivka.

With that in mind, we can see that Russians are trying to establish as big a buffer zone as possible in order to secure their flanks.

But Ukrainians delivered a huge blow from a completely opposite side.

Several days ago, a huge explosion was reported near Kurdiumivka. Later it was reported that Ukrainians tested their new highly destructive weapon on Russian positions.

Today DPR officials confirmed that Ukrainians started using JDAM bombs.

A JDAM bomb is a precise guided munition that is capable of striking targets up to 40 km away.

As you can see, one such bomb practically destroyed half of Zelenopillia.

This means that 8 such bombs can completely clear the region and open Ukrainians the way into the highlands, and once Ukrainians move their equipment here and establish full control over the high ground, Wagner forces will face an unprecedented threat.

However, this view is not shared by NATO Chief, who remains convinced that Bakhmut should fall within days.

Other high-ranking military officials are saying that Ukraine needs to step back from Bakhmut because it bears no strategic significance, so Ukrainians are just fighting for a useless city at the expense of their counteroffensive operation in the south.

Ukrainian officials state that NATO does not fully understand the situation in Bakhmut and undervalues the reasons why Ukrainian commanders decided to focus on this region.

The Institute for the Study of War sides with the Ukrainian side and evaluates that the Battle for Bakhmut became a strategic effort because the Wagner forces started increasingly using their best troops in an attempt to finish the Bakhmut story.

This means that Ukrainians can reduce the most capable Russian assault formation, which will favorably influence the coming counteroffensive.

Such conflicts are detrimental for Ukrainians because if Western partners do not see that Ukrainians are making the right decisions, it may negatively affect the indispensable military aid.

That is why Zelenskyy is trying hard to explain why shifting focus to Bakhmut is a strategically sound effort.

But it is also very common for news outlets to antagonize people with different views and amplify conflicts to make their stories more popular.

In order to make sure that this story was not made-up, the first thing I did was to make sure that it was covered by at least a dozen of reputable sources.

The second thing I did was evaluate the bias of the story because right-leaning outlets tend to amplify such conflicts and negative aspects of dealing with Ukraine, while left-leaning outlets tend to do the opposite.

In this case, we can see that there is no pronounced political bias. But the most important indicator that I check is the share of independent news.

As you can see, a lot of news sources are owned by wealthy individuals, media conglomerates, and governments.

A lack of independent news is a very strong signal that someone is trying to push you a particular narrative, very often beneficial for these big owners and detrimental for you.

Then I use the list of articles from all media sources that covered this event, which is very useful for crosschecking and finding the differences or biases in the coverage of the same event.

In order to easily make all these checks, I always use Ground News.

Ground News compiles over 60,000 sources in one place, showing you who owns the sources,

The SBU has collected evidence that the former leaders of Antonov did not allow the National Guard to enter the territory of the Hostomel airport and did not allow the construction of defensive fortifications. Now they face up to 15 years in prison.
Two weeks before the war, they got OK to transfer all the planes, pilots, the equipment, and spare parts to Leipzig, but they ignored it. The ex-director caused all of his employees to be on the airfield on the day of the attack. At Bychkov’s direction, Antonov supplied spare parts under sanctions to the Russian military before the war. Now awaiting trial.

Apparently, after the fall of the Soviet Union, the factories that produced most of the shells and other ammo were with either destroyed or abandoned. Now, they have to build new factories to meet the demand, which means that have to build the machines to make the machines that make the shells - all of which rely on now embargoed Western parts. Most of the previously made shells were used up in the prior conflicts and at the start of this war.

Further, a lot of the remaining stored ammo is unusable because they neglected maintenance procedures.

Wagner Boss Prigozhin Announces Bid for Ukraine Presidency

Russian politics can be strange. That's the kind of talk that could get you tossed out of a window, or get your private army more support. On the bright side for Russia, a Prigozhin led Russia will not need prisons. The courts will simply sentence criminals to serve their sentence in PMC Wagner, where they will be "rehabilitated" or die. Mostly the latter.
