Since 2002, the IL GOP has been politically irrelevant – and virtually everything they touch, dies.
In 2004, the IL GOP recruited Maryland resident Alan Keyes to run against then IL state senator Barack Obama for US Senate.
Keyes would lose the race to Obama by 43 points, 70-27. In 2014, IL GOP-establishment candidate Bruce Rauner, a wealthy private equity executive, would defeat Gov. Pat Quinn, D, 50-46, but in 2018, billionaire JB Pritzker, heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune, would defeat Rauner’s re-election hopes by a significant margin, 54-38.
And in 2022, the IL GOP recruited Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin to run for governor in the primary, despite Irvin pulling Democratic Primary ballots in 2014, 2016 and 2020, and spending the last several years praising Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker – referring to him as a “great friend and a great leader.”

I believe Paul Ryan has already endorsed Meatball’s stealth candidacy; against his expressed statement and his promise to voters in the governors race, but what is ones world to a politician, compared to expediency and personal enrichment?
The Illinois GOP as I know it MIGHT be DEFUNCT by then. I new Dynamic Duo from Illinois Review are vetting all the RINOS (and boy are there a LOT of them!) and handing them their ass at the door. I grabbed my popcorn and I am LOVING the show!!!

They feel they have to back DeSantis because no one else has any cachet. If Trump drops out or is arrested and forced out they will then turn on DeSantis and try to promote a more deep state kind of guy.
Despite the headline, the article only establishes that many key Illinois Republicans are literally Republican in name only. It offers neitther names nor actions of any IL Republicans supporing DeSantis.
FAKE? Checking out the WaybackMachine, The IllinoisReview existed as far back as 2006, but as late as late 2022, bore no resemblance to the current website. Seems to have gone nearly dormant for much of 2022. Is what’s there now just some Trump astroturf?

I Live here, (Unfortunately) I know exactly what they are talking about. All of the Illinois GOP Leadership. They are all Democrats with (R) after their names. Carry on. And, come to think of it, it’s interesting that the MEDIA doesn’t call on DeSantis to renounce some of these endorsements, or at least ask him why he hasn’t yet, if he’s truly a conservative.
They sure didn’t have that problem demanding similar things from Trump.
It’s a little odd to attack someone for “bloviating on things you don’t know about” and “you don’t what you’re talking about” while otherwise stating only things that agree with what they said. My point was that the article doesn’t offer support at all for the headline claim that these RINOs support DeSantis. Neither do you.
The GOPe saw Keyes as the perfect trap.
Give the base their red meat, then stay home, or vote for Obama. Then they can say- see, we told you so, IL is moderate and rejects hard-core conservatism.
Keyes got 27%. A massacre.
It didn’t help that he was a carpetbagger.
I heard him speak at Ronald Reagan’s alma mater- Eureka College. A staunch prolifer! He got my vote.
Plus the GOPe took out Fitzgerald.

You say that like it’s still the old Illinois Review, but it got some new management. There is no-one working there except the new “management.” It’s a blog passing itself off as an on-line newspaper, until you poke around and discover that it’s fake. Whether “US News” or “US Politics” or “World News,” every story is nothing but complaints about the leadership of the Illinois GOP.
And to be clear, the basic gist of all of their complains, that the Illinois GOP is dominated by RINOs, is true. But the website is designed to allow astroturfers to use it to present fake news.
