I believe that JDAM-ER and Rivet Joint are connected.
The Rivet Joint's mission is to detect, identify and geolocate signals throughout the electromagnetic spectrum.
A max range release of JDAM-ER requires the aircraft to fly at high altitude (30,000ft) and high speed (mach .9).
This could expose the launch aircraft to a possible S-400 SAM launch.
The Rivet Joint could detect and geolocate any RU S-400 sites that are operational & transmitting. If an S-400 missile is launched, Rivet Joint would also detect that and "could" warn UKR MiGs of the launch using secure communications.
A more likely scenario is the RU S-400 sites never detected the UKR MiGs and the Rivet Joint aircraft monitored all RU radar and radio communications and went home after the UKR MiGs returned to base (RTB).
