This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“Russian Oil to Be Stashed in Ghana as Pool of Buyers Shrinks“

“A cargo of Russian oil is heading for storage tanks in Ghana, a nation that exports crude itself and is on the doorstep of two regional supply powerhouses.

The development suggests that traders could be scouring the market for new buyers of Russian barrels after the European Union stopped almost all seaborne imports from the country in December. The bloc’s measures made Moscow hugely reliant on Chinese and Indian purchases.

The tanker Theseus arrived in Ghana’s territorial waters on Friday carrying about 600,000 barrels of Russian oil from a port in the Black Sea, according to tanker tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. Its cargo was due to be pumped into storage tanks in Tema, people with knowledge of the matter said. The last signal from the vessel was on Sunday evening, by which time unloading had not begun.”

“Russia’s New Offensive Sends Conscripts Into the Teeth of Ukraine’s Lines”

“A month into the campaign, Russian forces have barely budged despite forays by small units in fields, pine forests and ruined towns.”

“Peering through an infrared scope, a Ukrainian soldier noticed some heads poking over a trench a few dozen yards away.

“‘Are there any of our guys in front of us?’” he asked, according to an account of the ensuing firefight by fellow Ukrainian soldiers.

There were not. Two Ukrainians crept forward into the muddy wasteland of artillery craters between the two trench lines outside the eastern city of Lyman, eventually reaching the wreckage of an armored personnel carrier. Using it as cover to shoot from an unexpected angle, they forced the Russians to retreat. When it was over, they found the body of one soldier.“

Should have been banned a long time ago.

“New TikTok ban is poised to advance in Congress”

“A bill to revise legal protections that have shielded TikTok from U.S. sanctions is expected to pass a key House committee on Tuesday, paving the way for a broader ban on the popular short video app.

Sponsored by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Mike McCaul, the bill would strip longstanding protections from companies that transfer the “sensitive personal data” of Americans to entites or individuals based in, or controlled by, China.

The bill would likely pass the Republican-controlled House easily. Its fate in the Democratic majority Senate is unclear.”

I think Russia is finally going to take Bakhmut. I dispute that Bakhmut was a meat grinder only for Ukrainian troops and not Russian troops. Both sides suffered like a WWI battlefront at its worst. Anything else is propaganda.

The real question I’d have for EITHER side is, what’s next?

I’m hoping peace talks. Putin can triumph over Bakhmut, and the Russians will huff and puff over their victory, Zelensky can concede the city and say they tried their hardest, and everyone can sit down and start talking about ending the war.

Am I too optimistic? Yes, probably so. But there you go, my hope!

Peak China.

“Apple Suppliers Are Racing to Exit China, AirPods Maker Says”

“Apple Inc.’s Chinese suppliers are likely to move capacity out of the country far faster than many observers anticipate to pre-empt fallout from escalating Beijing-Washington tensions, according to one of the US company’s most important partners.

AirPods maker GoerTek Inc. is one of the many manufacturers exploring locations beyond its native China, which today cranks out the bulk of the world’s gadgets from iPhones to PlayStations. It’s investing an initial $280 million in a new Vietnam plant while considering an India expansion, Deputy Chairman Kazuyoshi Yoshinaga said in an interview. US tech companies in particular have been pushing hard for manufacturers like GoerTek to explore alternative locations, said the executive, who oversees GoerTek’s Vietnamese operations from northern Bac Ninh province.

“Starting from last month, so many people from the client side are visiting us almost every day,” Yoshinaga said from his offices at GoerTek’s sprawling industrial complex north of Hanoi. The topic that dominates discussions: “When can you move out?””

-—> The Case For Ukraine Acquiring MQ-9 Reapers <——
While many including Ukraine’s own fighter pilots have panned the idea of sending MQ-9s to Ukraine, we offer one expert’s counterpoint view.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/the-case-for-ukraine-acquiring-mq-9-reapers

Excerpts:
The War Zone wanted to present a counterpoint view to the prevailing discourse and the right person to offer such a perspective was retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Lawrence A. Stutzriem. He believes strongly that, with the right mission package, sending MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) to Ukraine could absolutely have a meaningful and valuable effect. While confidence in the MQ-9’s ability to survive over the Ukrainian battlefield isn’t held by many, Stutzriem doesn’t share this view.

There is also more than meets the eye to GA-ASI’s high-profile offer. In a statement written by the company’s CEO Linden Blue, he explained that the $1 price tag would allow Kyiv to acquire only the two Reapers and a ground control station to operate them from a disparate location should it accept. But that price of basically nothing does not include some very expensive items. It will take about $10 million in preparation and shipping costs to get the Reapers to Ukraine, and around an additional $8 million each following year to maintain and sustain the drones, which would still have to come out of the pockets of Kyiv or its allies.

••“I think generally there’s an atmosphere that’s very resistant to bringing any airpower into Ukraine,” Stutzriem said to The War Zone. “As we’ve seen, there’s this slow deliberation of ‘Are we or are we not? Is it destabilizing? Is it not?’ I think part of that is because we have a very dominant ground warfare perspective in the leadership of the Pentagon right now ...”••

“Russia’s S-400, its air defenses, are not steel bubbles…There are not unlimited lethal threats that are going to have 100% probability to kill covering the entire landmass in which the overall conflict is occurring,” Stutzriem said. “Reaper’s intelligence is able to map and understand where there may be appropriate places to operate.”

“[Bayraktar TB2 drones] were very useful and important in the very first days,” Moonfish said, referencing how the drones were helpful in stopping columns of Russian armored vehicles and troops heading toward Kyiv. But once Russia employed more robust air defenses, he said TB2s became “almost useless.”

Stutzriem emphasized that self-protection technologies for the Reaper do exist specifically to increase its survivability in more contested scenarios. The War Zone discussed these at length in this past feature. These capabilities can come in the form of electronic warfare pods and SIGINT payloads as noted earlier, or threat warning systems made up of sensors designed to indicate when Reaper is being surveilled, detected, or targeted by an adversary. Full-on self-defense pods also exist that can employ defensive countermeasures.

“If we were to introduce F-16 in Ukraine, there’s that question about ‘Okay, we get an F-16, but they’re still going to use Russian-style tactics.

Reporting from Ukraine:
https://www.youtube.com/@RFU
•Day 369.

The Ukrainians have been bracing in anticipation of a massive Russian attack the whole week because the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate leaked some information that suggested that Putin gave the order to carry out a certain plan of strategic significance. [Video shows attack from Kursk and Belgorod and from the eastern front into Ukraine.]

As noted by the Ukrainian Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, a massive attack right now would make sense - we have just reached the first year of the war mark, so this would be perfect timing to try to make up for their last year’s defeats and defuse the tension inside Russia.

In fact, as alluded to in previous reports, the Russians have deployed a substantial number of forces to the north of Ukraine, in particular in the Bryansk, Oriol, Kursk, and Belgorod regions.

What caused a lot of concern is that, according to many sources, the Russians are massing 700 aircraft for the attack.

That is why many analysts started researching the possibility of a new type of attack – one where the Russians are exploiting their air superiority to the fullest extent.

The main idea is that the Russians launch several waves of swarms of drones to identify and destroy Ukrainian air defense, combine it with a massive missile strike to take out

Ukrainian logistics and command posts, and then they would conduct massive bombings of all Ukrainian defense systems and fortifications.

Once the way is cleared, the Russians should be able to penetrate Ukrainian positions tens of kilometers deep and maybe even reach the Dnipro River.

Ukrainian Air Force Command spokesman has recently commented on this scenario and essentially said that this would be a suicide operation, which would end up with a virtually complete demilitarization of the Russian Air Force.

He said that something like that could potentially happen on a smaller scale without Russian aviation reaching far behind the front line, but even in the case where the Russians are less aggressive, the Ukrainians have the means to inflict heavy losses to Russian aviation.

First of all, when it comes to the pre-emptive drone attack, controllable small drones and plane-like UAVs can be easily intercepted.

The Ukrainians have a lot of mobile Electronic Warfare systems that are designed for early detection of enemy UAVs and complete blocking of data, control, and navigation signals.

One of the most popular systems used in Ukraine is Bukovel-AD, which is capable of detecting aerial objects at a distance of up to 15 km and blocking control at 10 km. [Shown mounted on a small pickup truck.]

Secondly, the Ukrainians also have a more powerful system Anklav that has an effective reach of up to 40 km. However, this one is stationary and is mainly used around the bases.

So, effective reconnaissance deep behind the front line is virtually impossible, and the only way to identify Ukrainian air defense is by sending uncontrollable pre-programmed kamikaze drones.

Here, the Russians would also face a ton of problems because, firstly, the Ukrainians have adapted to the constant drone strikes and have created mobile anti-drone units that are shooting them down from a machine gun.

So, only those drones that operate at a higher altitude have a great chance of becoming the target of and exposing Ukrainian air defense. The last option is to use a surveillance jet, A-50U.

This jet has an advanced radar that is capable to guide bombers to anti-aircraft weapons. This is also exactly the same aircraft that was destroyed in Belarus yesterday.

It was revealed that local Belorussian anti-government activists had used modified commercial drones and ambushed the Machulishchy air base, and fled the country.

Two drones managed to deliver a direct hit and destroyed the frontal and central parts of this 330 million-dollar aircraft.

Now, this is an extremely important development because the Russians had only 6 such aircraft, and now they are down to 5.

In the case of a massive aerial attack, the Russians would need them to operate close to the fronts continuously.

Its radar can reliably detect surface targets maximum at a range of 300 kilometers, so with each successful Russian step, they would be required to get closer and closer to the outer edge of the bulge to continue using their aviation effectively and increase the risk of losing this aircraft significantly.

Since there are only 5 of those left, this option is off the shelf.

Launching the production of these jets is impossible for the Russians.

Even just buying these 330 million-dollar vehicles to increase the stock and mitigate the risk would eat up a considerable amount of the Russian military budget.

But setting up factories for such high-end manufacturing is simply economically not feasible at this point.

Economic isolation and sanctions pressure the Russians to ration their economic resources and avoid substantial impractical investments. .
