How thick, or how liberal does a person have to be to think that being a democrat in the 1930s and 1940s and voting along with the state of Texas and then voting and campaigning for the republican president after 1948 is the same as becoming and being a democrat after the 1960s? Having been a democrat under FDR and Truman and then switching to Eisenhower has no resemblance to people becoming democrats under Obama and Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pelosi, etc. Look at the party politics, the party platforms, the culture wars, and abortion wars, gay marriage, feminism, anti-military, etc. how does that compare to what the democrats were in the 1930s and 1940s when Texas was still voting for them?

Oh, I agree.

However, I still allow for redemption. People can and do change.

Yes, people can change but I really don’t like the cavalier way that people say ‘just like Reagan’ X used to love Obama and Biden, disliked Reagan and republicans, and then switched, ‘just like Reagan’.

Someone embracing the modern left was living in a very different reality and embracing things that shouldn’t even exist and they did it by rejecting the history, the politics, the destruction of America, and the culture wars that have been clear since at least McGovern.
