top official of the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA Administrator Michael Regan touring the contaminated area created by last week’s catastrophic Norfolk Southern Railroad derailment, subsequent chemical spill, and fire had a message for Ohioans that, in light of FEMA’s recent refusal to assist them, has raised many eyebrows.
According to The Associated Press, Regan walked along a creek described as reeking of chemicals and spoke to reporters attempting to convince the people of East Palestine that the water is fit to drink and the air is safe to breathe.
“I’m asking they trust the government. I know that’s hard. We know there’s a lack of trust,” Regan told reporters. “We’re testing for everything that was on that train.”
In the aftermath of the derailment, and the deliberate venting of vinyl chloride and other chemicals and their ignition in burn ditches for what authorities called a ‘controlled burn,’ citizens have reported headaches, eye irritation, and massive die-offs of thousands of fish, worms, livestock, and pets.
Senator JD Vance (R-OH) has sought to bring national attention to the crisis with a video directly from a local creek in East Palestine that shows massive contamination of the groundwater.
He tweeted, “Visited a local creek in East Palestine today. These waterways are still very polluted. It’s time for Norfolk Southern to finish the cleanup.”
Regan said Thursday that any locals who are afraid to return home should request testing from the government. People have been unnerved. They’ve been asked to leave their homes,” he told the AP, claiming that if he lived there, he would be willing to move his family back as long as the testing showed it to be safe.
Regan, in an appearance on MSNBC shared to Twitter, vowed to “hold Norfolk Souther accountable.”
The Ohio Sierra Club responded with doubt: “You aren’t with the community. No one is answering their questions and they are living in fear. Who is supervising the clean up in their homes so that the residue doesn’t become airborne and in-hailed #DioxinKills“
The Ohio EPA told the press that the latest testing shows the five underground wells supplying the town with drinking water are uncontaminated.
However, with the contamination already reaching the Ohio River, there are significant concerns among the local population that the entire water table could be eventually compromised.
Even the Sierra Club distrusts this sorry excuse of an administration, but hey, DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH!So what's a few people with respiratory problems and a bunch of dead chickens and wildlife, a little collateral damage is but a small price to pay for this greater good. Gotta break some eggs to make an omelette 🤬🤬🤬
Yet, when the EPA was offered tap water from the region, he declined to drink it.
You first jackass
Send him a sh!t-load of the water that he says is ok in bottles, with a note saying, “après vous.”
If you are afraid to return, request testing from the government.
The government should be testing every house then notifying the residents of the results.
FEMA Fu$% Every Middle American.
“I’m from the government and I’m here to blow smoke up your butts”
They even pissed off Julia Brockavich
The water is “safe and effective”. Now get on that train, please.
The water is “safe and effective”
So’s Zyklon B gas.
IF THIS GOVERNMENT SWORE, AFFIRMED, DECLARED THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF ITS MEMBERS IS THE MOST INEPT, UNQUALIFIED, INANE, STUPID, CORRUPT, CRIMINAL, INCOMPETENT, DISHONEST LYING, TWISTED, PARTISAN HACK SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING OF GOVERNMENT, I WOULDN’T BELIEVE THAT IT WAS TRUE!
THAT’S HOW CROOKED THIS GOVERNMENT IS!!!
Yeah and the train is just going to Dachau resort camp.
Bwahahahahaha
Only to kill you......
Oh yeah and if there’s any over flow of guest we can send you to another great retreat, Buchenwald. Great places to relax. Riding the train is very soothing too.
Our government sucks. IMO
TRUST THE GOVERNMENT, MY ASS.
The Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf, the BP oil spill was made multiple times worse by the action of government. The oil was spewing out uncontrolled at the surface and burned with little environmental damage. Our Coast Guard Fire vessels keep pouring water on the rig and thus sunk it. The vertical riser then broke off near the ocean floor. The oil then continued to flow under thousands of feet of water. They should have simply let it burn until the wells drilled to kill the flow were completed.
TRUST THE GOVERNMENT = NO
Remember how the government took care of Canker in the orange groves in Florida? Yeah. Big success—NOT!
If trump were president, every news channel would have a continuous death ticker with live shots of the miles of funeral pyres filmed from the space station
I never drink tapeater at home.
