Basically, Ham Radio operators launch balloons fairly regularly and some go up to over 80,000 ft. and carry transmitters with them.

If I’m right and if it ever comes out, think of how stupid our military will look along with Biden, sending a 100 million aircraft and shooting down a homemade balloon with a $400,000 rocket.

Well, yes, I suppose our military will look stupid, and deservedly so. Still, the corporation with the contract to replace the $400,000 rocket will be happy. And that's pretty much all that counts nowadays, when one is speaking of national, um, "defense."

Project Loon which was a Google Project, but now is under contract to the U.S. DoD has been launching a lot of their balloons lately. And they look very similar to the first one, shot down in the Atlantic after it crossed the US, which I believe was actually HBAL617, not something chinese).

One was floating around over South Dakota yesterday (HBAL619) but it has disappeared today.

I’ve been following them on my ADS-B tracking system since the day before the first furor over Montana.
