Bacharach was known for songs such as 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head' and 'I Say a Little Prayer'

Composer Burt Bacharach has died at the age of 94.

Bacharach died Wednesday at home in Los Angeles of natural causes, his publicist Tina Brausam said Thursday.

The Oscar-winner was known for songs such as "Walk on By," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" and many more.

Bacharach triumphed in multiple art forms.

He was an eight-time Grammy winner, a prize-winning Broadway composer for "Promises, Promises" and a three-time Oscar winner. He received two Academy Awards in 1970, for the score of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and for the song "Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head." In 1982, he and his then-wife, lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, won Oscars for "Best That You Can Do," the theme from "Arthur." His other movie soundtracks included "What’s New, Pussycat?," "Alfie" and the 1967 James Bond spoof "Casino Royale."

Four months ago, Rick had a great video on Jeff Beck.

I grew up with the Beatles but the Yardbirds were always my true favorite band - the guitars were absolutely amazing to this young teen....and before I knew of Jeff Beck, Page & Clapton.

Rick’s video made me even more impressed by JB’s God-given skills

Ah. Same here.

I just watched that movie recently, and...watching it, I could swear I felt, for just a split second, that terrible, overpowering, irrational, hopeless crush on some older, attractive female. It is my observation that that most guys have felt this at least once to varying degrees in this life.

I know I am not alone in this.

And watching it again I remember for a second, how much that kiss on the forehead could mean to a young boy, because that movie brought that out the way they did.

I was always a fan of Bacharach & David songs - always amazing marriage of lyrics and melody regardless the actual singer.

The passing of Jeff Beck caused me to do a double take - we are seeing the passing of true musical legends from our youth.

A great songwriter. I didn’t know until a few years ago that he and Hal David wrote “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.”

RIP

Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

Yes, Dionne, I know the way to San Jose.

From LA, get on the "great big freeway" known as the San Bernardino Freeway, or Interstate 10, proceed east all the way to I-19, then veer right. Continue south as I-19 becomes Rte. 15. At Tepic, turn right on Rte 200, which becomes Rte. 1 at Malacatán.

Try to arrive at Malacatán at mealtime, so you can have Chinese food at the popular Jade Occidental restaurant. After your meal, continue along Rte. 1 to San Cristóbal Totonicapán and turn right on CA 1. Stay on CA 1 all the way to San Jose.

But I’ve always liked it, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, The Fifth Dimension, Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66, now I really appreciate the “AM” music from that era.

I still listen to that stuff.

Go to YouTube and search for Trijntje Oosterhuis singing Burt’s songs. You will enjoy.... the best is her complete concert.

I loved their music, BB and David. It was the sound of my youth. My sister sang along, and believe what you will, but she sounded like Marilyn McCoo while singing along. I still hear her voice mixed in with Dionne Warwicks. Talk about a chill and a tear wrapped in a moment.

With that said, the Composers for Walt Disney deserve a mention with the Greats.

“RIP. Talented songwriter. Horrible singer. He used to appear on some variety shows and it was excruciating to listen to.”

Along those line catch Paul Williams in one of his vocal performances. Prolific song writer even a decent actor, but shouldn’t go near a microphone.
