LET BLACKS AND WHITES DESTROY EACH OTHER...BUT NOT ANY OF OUR FELLOW AMERICANS!
It’s not just a black and white America, anymore. There are Arabs, Chinese, Korean, Filipinos, Afghans, Indians, Pakistanians, Persians, Latinos, and a vast number of others who need to diversify as well, and get out of their enclaves and closed off groups so they can diversify as well, and include blacks and whites in their prosperity this country gave them.
I’M REFERRING TO THOSE WHO IDENTIFY AS SOMETHING OTHER THAN AMERICANS FIRST. IT TAKES TIME FOR FOREIGN PEOPLE TO ASSIMILATE AS AMERICANS. NEWCOMERS ARE MOST COMFORTABLE (AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SO) IN NEIGHBORHOODS OF THE COUNTRY/CULTURE THAT THEY HAVE JUST LEFT, BUT BY THE 2ND, 3RD AMERICAN GENERATION ASSIMILATION USUALLY OCCURS. LET ME REFER TO THE VENERABLE THEODORE ROOSEVELT ON THIS MATTER:
“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
WELL PUT, I THINK...A GOOD START. INCLUSIVENESS. THE FAMOUS AMERICAN IDEAL OF “THE MELTING POT”. E PLURIBUS UNUM, REFERS NOT JUST TO THE STATES, BUT TO EACH ONE OF US PERSONALLY.
