One if America’s greatest mistakes was to dismiss MacArthur & LeMay’s requests to NUKE the PLA and Nork forces, consolidating north if t bg e Yaku River in 1950(?) If we had totally wasted Mao at that time the world would be far more stable place today . No Vietnam War and how much else?

“To what extent are Donald Trump’s weaknesses (compared with DeSantis) like those of MacArthur compared with Ike?”

It constantly amazes me that people like to point out that Trump has faults and weaknesses. I suppose in their little minds that DeSantis is the first leader in world history that is faultless and has no weakenesses.

People just don’t say, “I like Trump,” they always preface it with, “Although he has his faults, I like Trump.”

It just goes to show the brainwashing being done to the American sheeple.

At his worst he was bombastic and arrogant, alienating many but not all of those around and inder him.

"Endearing" him?

"Under" him?

Caught pants-down in the Philippines, inexcusably, just after Pearl Harbor was attacked. Which he knew. And which was a far greater catastrophe.

Personally I think that MacArthur was an arrogant horse’s ass.

"In his 70's he was again(??) strategically brilliant with calculated risk at Incheon."

Maybe. But how many American and Philippine lives were needlessly sacrificed to retake the Philippines when the Japs there were cut off from resupply, trapped and of no further use to our enemy?

How much spilled blood and pain were incurred solely to satisfy his vane and self-serving vow of "I shall return"?

MacArthur and Patton, two of the greatest leaders this country has ever seen. Coincidentally, they didn’t get along with the media or presidents.

I’ve been to the beach on Leyte where he returned. There’s a park there. MacArthur Park (where’s that music coming from?)

The best bio of the General was by Geoffery Perret “Old Soldiers Never Die”.

I found it balanced and very well written.
