I was in Panama recently and I learned that black panthers are albino jaguars which are dark instead of light. Pantera negra en espanol.

Black is a beneficial adaptation for a night hunter so there are a lot of them, or so the people there say.

99.99% of Panamanians have never seen any kind of jaguar in the wild. They are extremely stealthy and reclusive.

That’s not correct. Black panthers have genes for melanism which are different than the genes for albinism.
