The doctors association gets to decree how many new doctors are “needed”. and new medical schools can be built. How’s that for a medieval guild. You don’t think that drives up costs?
I've long thought the medical market was deliberately manipulated by government and the membership to keep prices artificially high. It's effectively a monopoly the government condones.
