But it took an American to show them what to do with it.
>>Call it anything you want. But 1+1=2 is the same for any race or gender.<<
Not in BInary, and this guy is talking LGBTQRSTUWXYZ+++ math.
I’m so old I remember when colleges employed mostly smart people.
In string arithmetic, that is true!
I am corrected. This one seems to have leaked through.
I just finished watching the Ken Burns Holocaust special on PBS. After showing photograph after photograph of bodies piled outside of gas chambers in the Nazi death camps, one of the narrators then intoned that the philosophy behind the killing is always with us and resides among our neighbors and ordinary Americans today. The scenes and the narration then shift to anti-illegal immigrant protests in this country, the Charlottesville protest march, and, of course, the January 6 “insurrection.” Ann Coulter is likened to a Nazi propagandist spewing anti-immigrant bias.
So, Americans protesting the open border and uncontrolled, illegal immigration are modern-day Nazis? I would think some Jewish groups would object to this comparison to the Holocaust and Nazi ideology.
And why do American taxpayers continue to have to support the obvious anti-Conservative, anti-Republican bias that dominates PBS documentaries like this and the drivel on Frontline? I object to being forced to hand over my hard-earned taxes to support left-wing, anti-American propaganda by Ken Burns and his ilk. When are Republicans going to pull the plug on PBS taxpayer support?
math a ‘white, cisheteropatriarchal space,’ = MATH IS HARD!
“Either you solve the equation properly, or you don’t. It really is that simple. It doesn’t matter if a gay person, a trans person, or whoever solves the problem, two plus two will always equal four.” Aryeh Kontorovich, please check with Winston Smith.
This confuses me a bit. Circa 1983 in pharmacy school PharmaKinetics was a bitch course. It was simply, chemistry, math, biological physiology and calculus all rolled into one.
Those of color that were accepted to pharmacy also did well. The chem, physics, math and biological courses in pre pharmacy eliminated those that could not make it in pharmacy school.
Once in pharmacy school the graduation rate was very high. Those that could not make it were already eliminated by the chem and the other sciences.
In my graduating class only three did not make it. Two dropped out due to personal reasons. They both were quite capable of pharmacy school. Oddly the third was quite brilliant. He took a toxicology course and loved it and changed his major. I also considered doing so myself. Toxicology is fun.
He’s not really part of the math department, notice he is a professor of math “studies”. That’s usually a tell. It’s just a made up thing for quacks, and then they spout word salad.
The MFer probably failed lunch in high school.
I’ve heard of this guy, Leyva.
Ask him if he wants to go up in a space shuttle designed by people that are not the best engineers and designers.
Ask him.
No longer. Didn't you get the memo?
“An education professor delivered a lecture in early January at a major mathematician meeting that described college math as “white” and “cisheteropatriarchal.””
...and a bunch here think that Putin is the biggest threat to America. Go figure.
There is no ‘pure science’ according to these people. 2+2 might equal $ for you but to a queer minority female it might be 7 or 3. This is the concept of ‘my truth’ thinking.
I just call them “normal people.”
Education majors are statistically the lowest scorers on the SATs and enjoy the least rigorous curriculum on campus.
It shows.
