There’s a lot of assisted care facilities advertising here in Coeur d’Alene, but there always is. I haven’t seen an uptick. Two of the facilities nearby have major expansion construction projects underway right now, so they are no doubt eager to get residents as soon as the jobs are completed.
Also, as a corollary, I don’t see an uptick in the local death notices or obituaries. The death notices are free to place in the newspaper and any relative or sometimes friend can place them. I am a vaccine skeptic but object to exaggerations and sometimes outright lies from the substack contingent.
I wonder how the north Idaho retirement facilities get care staff labor. They have a hard enough time here, and we have a much larger population of legal immigrants to draw from. I guess commuters from Spokane?
