We have an electric range right now but my preference is gas. I’m thinking a 500 gallon tank of propane used strictly for a gas range, ought to last the rest of my life. Get a good gas range with zero electronics, buy some spare parts for it and I’m good to go.

Very hard to find a new one that doesn’t have some electronics. A pilot light is a no go for me. They use a lot of gas - relatively speaking.
There’s an adjustment for pilot light flame level so you could effectively turn it down to nothing. I’d be fine with some sort of battery operated piezo spark igniter or one like a bbq grill where you push a button to make the spark. Not sure what’s available. Lehman’s would probably be a good start. Looks like they carry Brown Stoves.

Guess I shouldn’t say zero electronics because I’m fine with an igniter. What I meant was digital clock/timer, keypads etc. A one or two wire igniter is a different story.

They are not going to. It’s two states California and New York who will put electric stoves in new homes. Current homes not affected until the stove gives out and will be replaced with electric. President Biden says no to a national ban.
It’s just another exercise to see how willing people are to go along with it.
One more step in the March to societal control by Government.
Start with small silly ideas, people brush it off, the next time they are a little more encompassing, people brush it off, then you go for the throat because you know the vast majority will just brush it off.
People in this country used to look at what happened in 1930s germany, Stalin’s Russia, Pol Pots Cambodia , Moas China and say how could people be so complacent, stupid, apathetic etc.
Granted there haven’t been any mass killings, but the social/community conditioning is here now, and there is no one saying anything about it.
Other than Desantis, and his focus is understandably narrow as he is just focusing on Florida.

Owned a restaurant. The electric supplier offered some great incentive to install an electric instant water heater. Had 3 - 80 amp breakers. Our electric bill in the first month was over 1200 bucks! Used gas stove and fryers and our gas bill was about 200 bucks for cooking and 125 bucks for heat. After two months we ditched the electric demand water heater for a gas water heater and our electric bill dropped by 80%. Our gas bill never exceeded 500 bucks in total for cooking, heating and hot water.
Soon we’ll own nothing and like it ? LOL
If the government can force everyone to use electricity to cook, the load on the grid will prevent people from charging the electric cars they are being forced to buy and thus controlling who can move about the country.
