Ron Karenga was your professor??
Festivus is far more believable.
“Happy Shwanza” from Nancy Pelosi
LOL! I heard that!
“Kwanzaa bells! Kwanzaa bells!
Whitey’s got to pay!
Looting, burning, oh what fun
On this made-up holiday!”
LOL, like it!
.
“Dashing thru Walgreens
Shoplifting all the way
O’er to CVS
Then we hit Tar-gay
OH
[Chorus]”
Another good one!
Oh gosh, that comment could go sideways quickly ; )
You absolutely MUST tell us what he was like.
If she can let her hair down, exchange her library glasses for contacts, and learn how to walk in five inch heels, she will be a force to be reckoned with.
Ask Nanzi. You know how self aware she is.
It was the lead story on Chicago Leftist News Outlets - The Dim Wit Blonde anchor on Channel 2 [CBS] could not contain her excitement at announcing the 1st day of Kwanzaa
My liberal company posts the celebration of Kwanzaa on our employee monthly news but ignores Columbus Day....sickening....
Kwanzaa is mostly only celebrated by white, female HR managers.
I was just watching that Futurama episode last night. I didn’t realize Kwanzaabot was voiced by Coolio until I read credits then.
“I’ve been giving these out for 647 years”
If it were the “First Fruits of the Harvest” in Sub-Saharan Africa? Wouldn’t they be celebrating it between Late February and Early March?
In the Southern hemisphere, the days would be growing shorter. Harvest would be about three months away.
Yeah, I had to take a Multiculturalism course back in the 90s. Cal State requires one fruity mulliwhatever class (multicult, world religions, human sexuality, etc.)
So my multiculturalism class had four segments (Black, Native America, Latino, and Asian-America). I took Asian-American which was actually an interesting look at how Chinese etc. were treated.
1/2 of the class was studying your segment, while the other half was basically 2 lectures by each of the professors. Karenga was head of the Black Studies division and he really wasn’t ‘hate the white people’ either. The man was +40 BMI back then as well, so I wonder how he’s survived so long being as fat as he is. He always wore a dashiki.
Anyway, I found out he invented Kwanzaa and also was in prison for a while for beating and torturing women. I mentioned it in the student newspaper (which I wrote for with a penname) and got a slight reaction from some black students, but I was more upset about having to take a pointless class that taught nothing.
I did almost get in a lot of trouble writing in support of prop-22 while taking Critical Theory with the very gay professor Clifton Snider. He died of a heart attack a year ago while hiking, but he literally derided my article in class while not knowing I was sitting there listening (thanks, penname).
It was a fun time in my life and it’s just funny whenever I mention that the guy that invented Kwanzaa was my professor.
The hilarious thing is all the terms are in Swahili BUT no african americans are Eastern African (where Swahili is spoken). He should have used Yoruba or something from West Africa, but what do I know?
