Bush Sr. had no connection with the CIA or even any part of the government back then.
I don’t know what you mean by “CIA types”. But the Warren Commission was a total joke. Their only objective was to ratify an explanation that had already been reached. Kind of like the J6 committee.
People in ‘intelligence’ and the military tend to look down on civilians. The problem is there’s never been a country run by either that wasn’t a hellhole.

The reason the files have not been release maybe; it affects any Bush family members ability to run for office.
I pray it is not true, but I am starting to wonder.
