I’d argue the dims do want a true democracy with the abolition of the EC.

The dims are not arguing for getting rid of Congress. So, they are still pretending to advocate for a form of representative democracy.

In reality, however, they are arguing for a continuation of the oligarchy because they control the media, academia, corporate boardrooms, etc. They can use their experience in marketing to convince a majority of the electorate to vote for what benefits the oligarchy.

When the electorate fails to do so, they just rig the election to get the result they want.
