In about the year 2000 it became obvious the elections in Washington State were rigged. Rossi vs Gregoire

Absolutely. People with 2 brain cells don’t vote for Democrats $5 a gal gas.

They can get back to me and tell me about the grocery store, then. Saw another can of corned beef and hash today at Walmart - $5.00...... it’s like that with everything now. Prices up AT LEAST 25% across the board. They’d know this if any of them actually did their own shopping and didn’t have everything catered and paid for by taxpayers.

When I was in high school, Gas was about $.30 a gallon and diesel was around $.13.

I wonder why it flipped. Diesel is cheaper to refine.

I can remember .25 cent gas.

Question.

Refining process better, transportation better. Why is gas so much more expensive today ????

No expert here, but IIRC diesel USED to be cheaper to refine. When they mandated the ultra low sulfur diesel you get today it’s now more expensive to refine.

I wonder that too. Growing up diesel was always a fair bit cheaper than gas. That hasn’t been the case in years.

The formula for diesel was made "cleaner" since 2006... Ultra-low-sulfur... must more difficult to produce. Couple that with DEF and you'll understand why a diesel pollutes less than fully electric vehicles.

Same here even in Wallyworld. Prices up and shelves with lots of outages.
It’s the new Federal Diet Plan. Starve while you freeze to death.

Interesting, because I just noticed yesterday that gas was down from last week.

Why is gas so much more expensive today ????

It isn’t.

The dollars we use to buy it are just worth less.

Why does a silver dollar cost $27? 😉

That’s possible. I should look into it.

Demand is coming down. Crude prices and futures are back down from the stratosphere into the $80 range. Gas should be back under $3 and diesel should be around $4 like it was a year-ago.

Like so many things that have gone up, somebody is getting rich. We priced carpet the other day. What we paid $27 a yard for in ‘17 is now $54 to $70 a yard. Most building supplies have nearly doubled in price in just two years. I’d like to see somebody choke on that.

The Europeans use more diesel in their autos than in the North America. Demand from Europe is up because they are not getting as much oil from Russia. Our refineries can sell the diesel they produce for more money in Europe than in the US. Same as LNG(Liguid Natural Gas)

The US crude oil that comes from fracking tends to yield a higher percentage of gasoline than in the past. So, we are producing less diesel as a percentage than we used to.

So, demand is up. Production is down. Prices go up.

Truckers have to drive but the rest of us don’t. We stay home and enjoy our tried and true recipes. Can’t stand Aunt Lulu’s fruit salad with avocados or Cousin Fred’s nothing but booze pecan pie. At this home’s table, I don’t need to invite a liberal to spew garbage.

I calculated our normal T-day dinner to cost a third more this year. Let’s go, Biden.

Our only store is HEB so they screw us customers every which way they can. For a couple decades, they never have eggs, Karo syrup or celery during the holidays so I’ve learned to stock up on Karo and freeze celery during the summer to stay ahead of their little game. Even back in normal days, they wouldn’t have half the items on my simple from scratch grocery list.
