-—> Ukraine Situation Report: The Winter War Has Arrived <——
This week’s snowfall offers the first glimpse of what a potentially brutal Ukrainian winter will be for both sides of the war.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-ready-or-not-the-winter-war-is-here
Excerpts:
Winter has arrived in Ukraine with snow blanketing parts of the country in recent days ...
Away from the frontlines, winter poses further challenges as Ukraine’s energy sector remains under siege. Maksym Tymchenko, head of Ukraine’s leading energy company DTEK, said Ukrainians should be ready to leave the country before winter fully sets in to avoid overloading a power supply already on life support ...
Recently liberated Kherson is in a similar predicament with much of its basic infrastructure, namely power and water, remaining damaged from fighting and scorched earth tactics ...
UK may be giving 125 anti-aircraft guns, radars, and electronic warfare systems to combat the continued threat from Iranian drones ...
While reported amphibious landings on Kinburn Spit remain unfounded, it does appear someone shelled buildings on the peninsula ...
Work on the damaged Crimea Bridge continues as crews could be seen fitting pre-fabricated bridge segments into place ...
Ukraine has been equipped with a number of the tiny Black Hornet micro surveillance drones via the United Kingdom and Norway.

The concept of attrition of the Russian military force till they are no longer an effective fighting unit has to be examined given all the reports of Russian losses.
Thanks for posting, just remember the first victim in war...

“They [left] us freezing,” he said. “Without electricity, without heating, without water.”
Power still comes on – sometimes – but it can no longer be relied upon. In a city with ubiquitous wifi and where most anything could be done online, rolling hours-long electricity cuts are the horrid new norm for many. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russian strikes have damaged around half of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
In blacked-out Kyiv restaurants, diners feel their way through meals in near-darkness, served by waiters carrying candles. Residents wake in the dead of night – if that’s when it’s their turn to get a few hours of power again – to shower and do laundry.
Part of the answer is out of Klitschko’s very large hands. How difficult life will become depends, in part, on how many more missiles Russian President Vladimir Putin has left in his arsenal to throw at Kyiv and other cities.
Update on Russian military operations in Ukraine for November 21, 2022
- Russian makes incremental gains in the Donbass region; - Ukraine’s power grid continues to degrade under Russian missile and drone strikes;
- Ukraine continues denying responsibility for missile strike in Poland;
- US claims NASAMS air defense systems performed at 100% effectiveness, provide no numbers or proof of this claim;
- There are not enough NASAMS arriving in Ukraine over the next several years to protect Ukraine from further Russian missile and drone salvos;
- Ukraine has more or less abandoned Kherson city;
- US DoD admits Ukraine cannot achieve its main objective of expelling Russia;
- Failure to achieve Ukraine’s objective while continuing to fight and lose men and equipment equates to demilitarization;
In all that UKR #winning....

British PM Rishi Sunak dropped in for an unannounced visit to Kyiv yesterday and unveiled a new British military aid package for Ukraine worth USD 60 mln.
It will include 125 anti-aircraft guns and other measures to counter Iranian drones.
@ChuckPfarrer: "MERCI, PARIS. The Crotale ("Rattlesnake") is a French, all-weather, short-range air defense missile system developed to intercept cruise missiles, helicopters, UAVs and low flying jet aircraft."
Your co-conspirator, the StalePrince, made the insightful comment that: Well speedy like me, and normal people, thinks winning is territory held or lost, not blackouts.
And the facts are Russia is occupying quite a bit of Ukraine right now. So using the criteria that the StalePrince has provided, and attributed to you, Ukraine is losing.
There is nothing "speedy" about continually publishing irrelevant and likely incorrect data in an attempt to provide propaganda. That's slow. So, you aren't SpeedyInTexas, you are a SlowPokeInTexas.
While statistics regarding equipment loss or even personnel loss are interesting, they are essentially irrelevant. The important thing is the ability to replace that which is lost. Ukraine’s industrial base has been destroyed and their manpower depleted while Russian manufacturing capability is still intact and they have vast reserves of manpower available. Russia can replace and expand both the manpower and equipment committed while Ukraine can not.
