Leave it to Reuters to indirectly resurrect eco-extremist Dr. Paul Ehrlich’s hysterical “The Population Bomb” as the culprit behind the left’s struggles to achieve so-called “climate justice.”
Reuters published an asinine climate doom-mongering story with a headline that needs no explanation: “Climate justice gets harder as world population passes 8 billion.” The article screeched that the overpopulated world signals “more hardship” for “regions already facing resource scarcity due to climate change.” Despite the continual debunking of Ehrlich’s boogeyman of an overpopulated world ever since the 1968 publication of his book, Reuters mindlessly paralleled Ehrlich’s logic: “Rapid population growth combined with climate change is likely to cause mass migration and conflict in coming decades, experts said.”

Demographic trends show a definite tendency toward slowing of population growth, leading to reduction in global population. As people get more prosperous, they have fewer babies. While advances in medicine and food production led to an decrease in infant mortality and an increase in lifespan, in the longer term, lower infant mortality means that people don’t need to have 10 kids to make sure a few of them survive. In developing countries, children are your social safety net. They’re your retirement plan. When you don’t need to pump out an army of children, you don’t do so anymore. There’s no need to panic over population increase. What we do need to worry about however, is an aging global population, without so many young people to support old farts.
Climate justice is not enough! We demand CLIMATE EQUITY!!
If the woke really wanted to save the planet they would start by stop using electricity in their lives.
The hard core might want to take their carbon footprint to zero.
Win win.
India is also experiencing major increases in population—among the lower castes.
The upper castes are not pleased.
Fine. Eliminate India and China and the population problem is no more.
That’s smart.
That raises the question of whether you can increase the wealth and prosperity of everybody quickly enough so that the poorest don’t need to have large families to survive. That seems like a race that cannot be won, especially because radicals are bent on making energy scarce and expensive.
It’s not that simple. To what living and health standards and level of freedom? At what environmental cost?
We had 3 billion at much lower standards of living in the 60s and the dire threats were combined with the “ZPG” movement of the time.
Now I believe you are starting to think somewhat the inverse of how the Chinese (and their globalist partners) think.
Higher standards of living require lots of energy. There is a strong correlation between a nation’s GDP and its energy consumption. In today’s world, it is hard to increase energy production, at least in the developed world. The developing world argues (with a lot of merit) “you got yours — who are you to deny us now?”
The question is how many people are needed to keep the elite in their lifestyle.
They really are planning to kill orders of magnitude more people than any 20th century dictator.
Proves the Covid vaccines are meant to kill people to save the environment
I called out a co-worker on this years ago. She said the same thing. I retorted that it was just like a leftist to want others to have to do the heavy lifting so she could live the good life. I said that she could lead by example and off herself if she was so worried about it. She didn't talk to me for a long time after that. Win-win.
Some of these scum talk about useless eaters, completely missing the fact that elite bureaucratic lawyers and bankers produce absolutely nothing of value and are the most useless eaters of them all.
