Spot on. Walker is figuring that out in Georgia apparently. He must disavow who brung him and embrace the suck which is Kemp, or he will have to be made to lose.

This preemptive strike on DeSantis by Trump is one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever soon. It’s not gonna end well for conservatives. I fear we will end up losing a very good shot at the White House in 2024.

I voted for him every time he was on the ballot. He’s becoming more abrasive and I didn’t think that was possible.
Attacking other Republicans when the party is in peril is not the path I would prefer he take.

To be a good politicians, you need allies.

That's bottom line reality that some just don't want to admit. Trump's personality is to go for the kill against anyone who disagrees with him even once. That doesn't work in politics because very few people are going to agree with you all the time. You need to learn to how to move past disagreements, build coalitions, and move forward. Trump just seems unable to do that.

All of you guys are a bunch of nervous nellies. Why don't you wait until the dust settles before you start your running away from Trump. Like I said, 2024 is 730 days away and a lot can happen between now and then. It might just be that the bloom on the rose you are aligning with may not be so bright by then

This is just a word of caution.

I'm not sure what dust you're talking about needing to be settled, but the idea that things may look very different in 2024 then they do now applies equally to both Trump and DeSantis.

I love most of Donald Trump's policies but didn't like that he needlessly alienated potential votes/voters by making stupid comments. I know lifelong Republicans who are so tired of it they have said they won't vote for him if he's the nominee in 2024. If Trump is losing us lifelong Republican voters, we have next to zero chance of gaining the number of swing voters we would need to win in 2024.

DeSantis gives me everything I love about Trump, and none of what I hate. That's a no-brainer choice to me.

I’m a newbie commenter but long time FR fan and $ supporter. Also until last couple of days a TRUMP accolade. But this is just so over the top I can’t hold back. Ron DeSantis must be the new face of MAGA. He has the one trait we need in 2024…DISCIPLINE! He is TRUMP absent the thin skin and raging narcissism.. GATOR PROUD!

Why don't you wait until the dust settles before you start your running away from Trump.

Here's a twist: The Donald fired the first shot against Governor DeSantis three days before the mid-term election. The day after the election, DJT fires the 2nd shot, "I know lots of dirt about him."

Today, with mid-term recounts ongoing, a U.S. Senate runoff scheduled almost a month from now, and another hurricane slamming Florida, The Donald is obsessing about Florida's Governor as his political enemy. It smells of desperation and an unstable, frightened old man.

If Trump's state of mind is not a concern for you today, it should be. He will be 78 years old in 2024.

That is funny, I voted for Ron Paul before Romney or GW the second run. I like my Republicans but not when they start attacking the best Governor in the US, or writing Patriot act type of laws. DeSantis is the future, DJT needs to retire. He has too many holes in his coat tails. Maybe if he quit running, the DOJ would leave him alone. His prominence is why New York and DC is after him days on end and maybe never ending.

Nobody, and I mean no one person can fight and destroy the Leviathan of the DS. Politicized Justice, 40 Trillion in debt by Jan 2025, and he is going to need allies, a lot of them. DeSantis is one, or could have been.

If Trump is the nominee, I will vote for him. I don’t think I will ever participate in another rally though. Times change, and his time is in the past. JMO but it is honest.

Trump and DeSantis.

I think they’re both on our collective top-shelf of patriots we most admire. Hope we can tone it down, bump fists and turn the Trumpp-DeSantis laser focus on our true foes, outside of the party.

It’s a much more powerful and motivating look for both.

If this really is Trump’s message, there are two things I don’t understand.
Why is he talking about the FBI following his orders? If he really managed to do that it would have been better not admitting to it publicly.
Why go against Desantis if he hasn’t said anything yet about being interested about the presidency?

Comment from a previous thread, today:

Trump is a difficult man. And it is certainly possible that a more calming, and perhaps as dedicated a warrior is somewhere. But DeSantis and others in the mix are not yet proven to be “bad and nationwide”. I'm not ready to throw Trump over...He fights...The effect of his four endorsements in the New York US Rep. elections didn't hurt.
I make it a rule to look twice before crossing over political lines. I think DeSantis has great possibilities, but I wanna rate his his “coast to coast” magnetic attraction a bit more.

I'm half way through my 79th year. I am still cognizant and probably will be for several more years until I pass on.

What I see with all of you guys is that even before the ship has begun to sink you are running to the life boats ahead of the women and children.

The other thing I notice is that the Democrats stick together like glue, no matter what happens. Most of you Republican cut and run at the first shot. In addition, the elected Republicans have no qualms about staging each other in the back.

So! Suck it up and be brave.

It seems you are missing the important points. Let's try this again: Donald Trump mocked Florida GOP candidate DeSantis three days before the election. This is the equivalent of Trump supporting the Democrat opponent. Damn near unforgivable. But Trump didn't stop there.

Two more shots--including today--when much of Florida is under a state of emergency for a nasty hurricane inflicting damage across the entire state. Does Trump expect the Governor of Florida to stop governing during a state of emergency so that he can assuage Trump's fragile ego? Really?

Take a few steps back from your worship of a great POTUS from 2017-2020, and you might see he is not the same man today.

Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.

You will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.

Get used to the idea.

Where else are you going to go?
