We will never win. We can survive. That’s all.
Biden may get more of his agenda passed. Manchin and or Sinema can’t stop it anymore.
“But what happens if we win?”
THAT is the big question, and it really depends on who “we” are. The McCain, Romney, Ryan, Sasse, Murkowski, McConnell, etc... side of the GOP won’t make any impact at all. GOPe has to go.
Redford's question at the end of The Candidate.
AuntieFah and their cohorts will kick into high gear.and burn, loot, and murder.
Steer clear of cities.
Einstein’s definition of insanity seems rather apropos. We shall see.
Majority Republicans should put forward Constitutional Amendments to better protect the rights of the minority party (e.g. providing protections against executive orders that violate separation of powers, ensuring appropriate minority representation on Congressional committees, etc).
A sufficient number of minority Dems might support said Amendments to ratify.
When the Republicans are again the minority in the future, they clearly will need improved protections against Democrat authoritarianism.
Lockdowns, masking, big pharma billions? That’s what happened last time. Before that, it was just a bunch of do nothings. Looking at the top aces, I se a bunch of women running as republicans.
Only Fleid came out on top and they have been punished for daring to go against lockdowns, making and pharma by republican leaders.
The republicans party is so far left that Fauci can run the to dog into a puppet.
We did get: a bumpstock ban, how much in covid payouts, mail in ballots and prison rform.
Those things are what we won the last time.
What will they take from us this time?
One of the benefits of winning Congress is that the Republicans can put that little weasel Garland back in his box. Since the Dems have had majority in both houses, the Republicans cannot call him and roast his ass in Congress when he does weasel stuff, He is weak and will back off once they are in control. The squirmy little tool will have to retire his hatchet for these last two years
Excellent points, Cockroach Magoo. Right on.
There’s a well-worn expression in my clan:
“It isn’t ‘good’ to be ‘better than the worst.’ “
What happens if we win is similar to Oz beating Fetterman in PA. It’s better than the alternative, but that could be all it is.
Thank you.
One more example: a higher bar for impeachment, such as requiring a minimum level of support (25%?) among non-majority Representatives.
Good article, by the way. I haven’t heard Republican politicians talk about what they intend to do AS A PARTY after the election. That’s a huge missed opportunity.
“One of the benefits of winning Congress is that the Republicans can put that little weasel Garland back in his box. “
And if the weasel refuses to appear or answer questions, then what? Who will enforce a contempt of congress ruling against him? Isn’t it the AG and the DOJ that have to prosecute such a ruling?
Yeah, right, like he will indict and prosecute himself.
So, please ‘splain this to me, how it will make any difference.
“What happens if we win?”
Things get very busy at the local Kinkos franchise.
They’ll stop some of the Democrats’ worst ideas, which is good, but it’s not enough.
“ they didn’t have a single bill agreed and ready to vote on. The GOP fought and disagreed over how to handle it for two years, then lost their majority. The Right must not make that mistake again.”
It wasn’t a mistake.
