The media has been short-stroking the "Trump vs. DeSantis" narrative for a couple of months now, and an unfortunately all-too-large crowd here on FR is buying it. Don't. It's false goods.
And now this disinformation has metastasized into "DeSantis is an inside-man". Because he takes big money from big donors. So did Trump. So what? That's SOP. But "DeSantis is part of the system", they cry, "but Trump is a total outsider." Well, that last part is certainly true, but the first part isn't. DeSantis took a very different growth track than Trump, commissioned Naval JAG officer, lawyer, and now administrator. But one has only to look at Governor DeSantis' accomplishments here in Florida over the last four years -- if he was an "insider", he sure has a funny way of implementing that particular agenda. Deeds, not words, folks.
Both men can and should be supported -- it's a false dichotomy to think it's one or the other, one that I'm sure the DNC would love to see grow every larger and fester in the heart of GOP conservatives. Trump and DeSantis differ greatly in their personalities, style, approach and abilities. Trump is a hard-charger, skilled businessman and obviously dedicated to the very real concept of American exceptionalism. But he also has a tendency to be thin-skinned on occasion, and impulsive, like his unfortunate off-the-cuff "DeSanctimonous" crack the other day that caused so much sturm und drang. That sure has caused some heated 'discussions' here on FR and elsewhere, and I'm sure that every leftist apparatchik seeing that was smiling ear to ear.
DeSantis has a much more moderate temper and methodical approach to things. But he has never failed to hand the baiting, hateful leftist press their arse whenever they toss a loaded question his way. And DeSantis, being part of "the system" does know how it works. He knows the law -- being a lawyer. And he has also demonstrated a very powerful ability to surround himself with people of like mind and staunch loyalty. One will note how much legislation he had gotten passed over the last few years, as well as other executive actions, with no leaks, no back-stabbing, because his team on the GOP side are all focused on the same goals.
Both men are good men, and much more like than unlike, particularly when it comes to what they seek to accomplish -- to Make America Great Again.
Eyes on the goal, people. Never lose track of what is at stake here. The future of our nation is bigger than men, bigger than all of us. Now on to Victory, and thanks for reading.
A most excellent post, Joe B. Thank you.
Trump 2024, DeSantis 2028 and 2032 would be a wonderful for the USA.
Amen.
You're right. The headline alone was insulting to both men and to all of us...
For me it's - - - Trump '24 DeSantis '28
