I look forward to seeing some threads on this Nazis thing, there are people in Russia and Ukraine both who use some of its symbolism, but what does it mean over there?
First, surely no one here thinks there is some world-conquering Nazis party movement in Russia or Ukraine, or anywhere in Europe that is going to become so popular that it threatens anyone, Communism is sexy to the masses, but Nazism just isn’t going to sweep the world.
Second, is this stuff like the rebel stuff here in America? Confederacy symbols have been used, and are used in all kinds of ways, military units have loved it in modern wars, racists have used it, proud Americans have used it, it has been humorous on TV shows, etc.
How complex is nazis symbol usage in Eastern Europe and Russia, do a lot of tough 20-something soldiers from Russia and Ukraine use it to mean ‘we’re tough!’, or ‘we’re rebellious’ does it send subtle signals and digs at their opponents with non-political or less than significant meanings that escape us Americans?
