If youtube was around in the late 1930s and WW II we’d all be speaking German today.

Everything the Allies would upload to youtube would have been censored as mis-information.

I doubt it. My father at 19 was packing an M1 pursuing Fascists across Belgium, Germany and CZ. He and his pals did an amazing job.

They were made of the Right Stuff.

He died a year ago last March at 94. In his home in his own bed.

He never spoke German.

He married a Swede he met outside of Union Station, they both arrived the same day in DC. She for a new job, him waiting for his convoy to form.

The day before he left to make the trip to Europe he told her he would come back when the war was over and marry her. And he did. He had my grandfather wire her money for a train ticket to Texas. He arrived there before she did. They were married in my grandparents home the night she arrived. The preacher waited for her, the trains were late.

They are married 66 year.

Those kind of people still exist. They are not common in DC.
