So to you it makes you a communist if you don’t want a nuclear war?
What the heck is going on at FR? Deep State lovers all over it. Starting to feel like I need a shower after I read some of the globalist agenda pushing comments from posters like you.
LOL.
I think the general point is, nobody (sane) wants nuclear war therefore how do you define the level of insanity needed to trigger it.
Russia appears to be insane enough and irrational enough to think the conditions it handed to NATO in December (and again in February and March and April) were reasonable. Not on this planet, they weren’t.
Russia’s demands were tantamount to requiring us to assume that every NATO-led training exercise in any part of any country east of Czechia amounts to a deliberate provocation (which is a bit like America being threatened by regular training exercises in Guatemala).
Just how far do you really want to go out of the way to harm NATO interests in order to “not poke the bear”?
Note - I differentiate between NATO interests and American interests. The bear is gonna get poked if America ignores it, if America avoids it, if America confronts it. Fine. So keep your distance.
But you can’t expect the rest of NATO to just indefinitely let the bear have what it wants either. NATO is a defense alliance of 30-odd countries. It isn’t ONLY about what’s good for America.
Maybe 25 NATO members are thinking, if we let Russia get its own way, we’re all screwed. Maybe many in the USA and France, both by virtue of being amongst the ones farthest away from Moscow, have the luxury of thinking “as long as we’re last in line to be on the receiving end of Russian insanity, it’s all good” but Churchill had a good line about that reasoning.
Churchill wasn’t the only person with the wisdom to understand the false economy of appeasement. F.L.Lucas really hit the nail on the head:
” I appreciate the Prime Minister’s love of peace. I know the horrors of war – a great deal better than he can. But when he returns from saving our skins from a blackmailer at the price of other people’s flesh, and waves a piece of paper with Herr Hitler’s name on it, if it were not ghastly, it would be grotesque.”
It really doesn’t matter how Putin plans to ensure his victory - conventional warfare, biological, chemical, nuclear. It’s the sheer fact that Putin believes there is a way Russia could come out of this war holding all the prizes while NATO (and by extension the USA) has to foot the bill, is the problem.
