Would You Like to Play a Game, General Petraeus?
Flopping Aces ^ | 10-24-22 | Larry Brandes

Posted on 10/24/2022 9:52:12 AM PDT by Starman417

Exciting news this week!  General Petraeus (former commander in Afghanistan 2010 and 2011), during an interview in France, stated that a "multinational force" led by the U.S. may intervene in Ukraine." Apparently, Biden already authorized the deployment of approximately 4,700 U.S. troops with the 101st Airborne Division near the Ukraine border in Romania.  According to the division's Deputy Commander, Brigadier General John Lubas, "Yeah, this is not a training deployment, this is a combat deployment for us. We understand that we need to be ready to fight tonight depending how the situation escalates across the border."  That sounds like a well thought out plan-sort of like Viet Nam (FUBAR I) and Afghanistan (FUBAR II). What could possibly go wrong?

An ancient philosopher, Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War and said, "That the greatest victory is that which requires no battle."  He also believed that "war is to be avoided as much and as long as possible because of the potential for catastrophic loss."  Sounds like a smart dude.

Unfortunately, it is very plausible that our mumbling, bumbling (not so smart) Commander in Chief has never heard of Sun Tzu, desires war and couldn't care less about catastrophic loss of life.  Biden may accidentally or on purpose, "let slip the dogs of war" and start WWIII.

WWIII will be similar to WWII...until some moron comes up with the brilliant strategy of using tactical nukes on the battle field. That is a game changer and could quickly escalate the war and totally destroy most of the planet.  Bummer.  I really like this planet.

Now, global nuclear war does have a down side, but some lucky individuals will survive and still have to pay their cable bill.

While attending a Catholic grade school during the Cuban missile crisis, The Sisters of Holy Child of Jesus taught us to avoid the devastating effects of a nuclear blast.  Those nuns were a tough bunch and a nuclear blast would never, ever deter their God given mission to educate the crap out of us kids.  Sisters directed us to hide under our desks until the initial blast had passed and then to resume our studies (they weren't big fans of slacking off).  Recently, I purchased a bunch of those classroom desks for my home and now my family will be safe from any and all nuclear blasts.

Well, son, I was here a lot longer than that.

Your posts are blatantly pro Russian and inflammatory, I personally think you and your ilk should be banned again. Fortunately, that’s not my problem. I can only imagine you still have family from the motherland that clouds your sense of right or wrong.

Russians don’t belong in Ukraine. Period.

You seem to think it’s OK. We disagree.

I hope your relatives leave Ukraine. They are going to be cold walking back home in thin rubber boots.

I think the general point is, nobody (sane) wants nuclear war therefore how do you define the level of insanity needed to trigger it.

Russia appears to be insane enough and irrational enough to think the conditions it handed to NATO in December (and again in February and March and April) were reasonable. Not on this planet, they weren’t.

Russia’s demands were tantamount to requiring us to assume that every NATO-led training exercise in any part of any country east of Czechia amounts to a deliberate provocation (which is a bit like America being threatened by regular training exercises in Guatemala).

Just how far do you really want to go out of the way to harm NATO interests in order to “not poke the bear”?

Note - I differentiate between NATO interests and American interests. The bear is gonna get poked if America ignores it, if America avoids it, if America confronts it. Fine. So keep your distance.

But you can’t expect the rest of NATO to just indefinitely let the bear have what it wants either. NATO is a defense alliance of 30-odd countries. It isn’t ONLY about what’s good for America.

Maybe 25 NATO members are thinking, if we let Russia get its own way, we’re all screwed. Maybe many in the USA and France, both by virtue of being amongst the ones farthest away from Moscow, have the luxury of thinking “as long as we’re last in line to be on the receiving end of Russian insanity, it’s all good” but Churchill had a good line about that reasoning.

Churchill wasn’t the only person with the wisdom to understand the false economy of appeasement. F.L.Lucas really hit the nail on the head:

” I appreciate the Prime Minister’s love of peace. I know the horrors of war – a great deal better than he can. But when he returns from saving our skins from a blackmailer at the price of other people’s flesh, and waves a piece of paper with Herr Hitler’s name on it, if it were not ghastly, it would be grotesque.”

It really doesn’t matter how Putin plans to ensure his victory - conventional warfare, biological, chemical, nuclear. It’s the sheer fact that Putin believes there is a way Russia could come out of this war holding all the prizes while NATO (and by extension the USA) has to foot the bill, is the problem.

Russians don’t belong in Ukraine. Period.

Why don’t you let the Ukrainians decide that? A sizable portion have voted to join Russia after a Revolution disenfranchised them, they were bombed for 8 years, and their language outlawed. Do you think Revolutions that overthrow democracy are good?

You argue like a pms teen girl who neither understands history nor geopolitics. But I defend your right to “scream at me” to the death. Just don’t cry!

Exactly. The Ukrainians have had the chance a few times. And they choose not to have them there.

An election where the invading force is standing on the streets with tanks is not exactly a fair election.

Have everyone go home, bring in a free and fair election…and let’s see how that comes out.

But first the Russians need to pull all of their stuff out.

Flopping Aces → Infowars, citing RT → L'Express, which has the article as subscriber only.

FA is so removed from the source there is no way to find what Pretaus actually said or what the context was. Remember when FR called out the news when this happened to Trump?

Petraus, who actually knows a little bit about real warfare, discussed options and said "may". That is a trigger word for click bait internet journalism to push hysteria.

It wasn’t a sizeable proportion at all.

In Donestk Russia inflated the count by putting unused ballot papers in the yes pile (live on Russian television) AND getting Russian journalists, observers and troops to vote.

They were still outnumbered two to one by the people DENIED their rights. Refugees, the injured, the dead, people in Russian filtration camps...

In Zaporizhzhia even the Gauleiter admitted the 500,000 who allegedly did vote were outnumbered by the 800,000 living in the Ukrainian held north of the oblast... Let alone the half million who’ve fled the Oblast.

Face reality. There’s nothing free or fair about a referendum that counts unused ballots and votes by nonresidents but doesn’t offer a vote to lifelong residents.

So Eastern and Southern Ukraine agreed with the Euromaiden Revolution that Overthrew their vote?
They wanted their language outlawed? The Independent Republics of Luhansk, Donetsk, and Russia Crimea are secretly pro-Ukrainian? Who has Kiev been fighting all these years? Faeries?

Biden needs to be impeached. He couldn't handle a withdrawal out of A-Stan and now this demented moron wants to start a war with a nuclear power! NO! This is insane if true.

Their language was not being outlawed, you utter fool.

Poroshenko took Russian off the official language list for official publications - wrongly IMO - but it’s never stopped people speaking Russian. It was simply jingoistic gesture politics - like Wales has done by insisting on welsh language speakers for some public sector jobs in English speaking areas.

The correct response to such idiocy is to replace the government. Zelenskyy was already trying to remove that legislation, and if Russia hadn’t been such assholes in February he probably would’ve succeeded by now.

(By the way, Crimea wasn’t ever going to be impacted by that legislation, what with it being autonomous.)

Mist of the videos of Ukrainians shooting Russian stuff down have them speaking Russian.

Yep, if you think all Russian speaking Ukes are pro Russian you’re an eejit.

Annexation always was a fringe opinion. The last time public opinion was fairly canvassed in one of those regions, annexation was offered against four other options: independence, autonomous region status like Crimea, federal reform of Ukraine giving them more local control, and the status quo.

Annexation came third. Look it up.

Heh, now you’re cheering on a Marxist guerilla. You got your own copy of the Little Red Book?

The Euromaidan wasn’t a revolution, it was a reaction to Yanukovych getting himself compromised by the Kremlin and single-handedly mothballing the EU association agreement with no notice, no debate, and no constitutionally required discussion with Parliament.

In effect, he broke the Constitution, broke the law, and broke his own Manifesto because Putin had him by the balls, then he broke his own national defense assurances by basically handing control over the national economy to Moscow - again with no debate and no vote.

If the maggot had had any shred of honor whatsoever he would’ve retired to the drawing room with a whiskey and a revolver. Ukraine would’ve been far better off if he had been arrested the minute his high treason was exposed instead of having them scrabble around for a few weeks trying to find a polite solution to the mess he created.

Maybe he was paid off, maybe he was blackmailed, but there is absolutely no doubt he sold his country out on a scale that puts him in the same league as those two assholes the USA executed for giving nuclear secrets to the Soviets.

That Nuland and others exploited the utter chaos he unleashed by Yanukovych AFTER he’d fled the country and AFTER he’d precipitated a civil war that cost thousands of lives and left Putin’s little green men fomenting separatist terrorists all over south Ukraine is neither here nor there.

Yeah they will. They give you $20,000 for any medical treatment you want when you sign up.

When my stepson was signing up with the Marines, the recruiter told him about this. I jokingly said now he could afford his sex transformation.

The recruiter looked at me and said yes sir!

I had to tell him I was joking. He said it didn’t matter.

Long term memory = the numerous bomb threat drills practiced
day after day. Crouching in the halls, arms/hands over the
head and neck, the females in straight skirts wrestling to
keep all privates, private. If, in fact, the drills had been
real, truly, what difference would this have made? Tornado drills essentially being bomb drills. This is fantasy land.
